Yes really.

Evening all I'm after osme help and advise please (sorry if this is posted in the wrong section)

Over the August Bank holiday I am taking part in a Mini run in aid of a charity (not sure I can name them on here) I take part every year and every year we dress up in fancy dress and also decotrate the Mini!!

Well following be nominated as the offical photographer last year I've devided to use Photography as our theme my brother is making a replica of my camera to go on the roof of the Mini we are putting 2 digital photo frames in the rear side windows displaying the photos from last year.

I am sorting out Photography themed songs to play through the speakers.

I need more ideas of how to decorate the car I though about old film cases/rolls negatives etc. Needs to be light weight and easy to transport we travel 200 miles to get to the event. Oh and as cheap as possible.

Any ideas or help will be greatfully received

Help you with a song: 'Kodachrome' by Paul Simon or 'The Reflex' by Duran Duran.

God I'm showing my age!!!!!!

Mind you, on reflection (& no pun intended), the first one might be innappropriate unless you're a Nikon owner

Thganks for all the songs idea keep them coming.

Also need ideas for a costume (I need to be able to drive a classic Mini whiole wearing it ideally!)

Any ideas where I could get some old film cases etc from?

Need to decorate the sides of the car too

If you mean the film cartridges you load into the camera you could try someone like Ilford or a place that still develops 35mm film. Depends on how they dispose of them and whether they recycle them or not. If you want classic looking ones then Ilford b & w are probably quite retro.

Use masking tapes or similar, stick them on in the form of words, like 'TV' and 'PRESS' all over the bodywork, dress up like photojournalist in the 1970s often in found war torn nations, like VietNam or similar, like you would see in movies like Under Fire or similar.

Oh, as for songs, why not play any songs you may find out of those movies, why not find out what songs were used in the mini-series Frankie's House. Or play soundtracks from those movies like Under Fire or the other movie made by Oliver Stone starting James Woods.

Just been listening to this: Bruce Springsteen 'Stolen Car'

"If I had a talking picture of you"

why not get graphics made up of say a few minis first get a few minis and take some photos of them convert them to b&w use photo shop and and edit them so it looks like a negative spool and put them on the sides

Thanks for all the ideas as a Queen fan I am ashamed to say I never even thought of 'Flash' !!

I love this idea as I could use images form last years run. I have CS3 and Elements 11 so will have a look through

Well I've ben having a play with getting a film border I found some bits on the old net after following them to the letter I decided I didn't really like it and it was the worng size so I started again, quite pleased with it (I know it's not perfect) now all I need to do is go through last years photos and mess about with some of them to make them look like negatives.

The roof mount 'dummy' camera is coming along well. I say dummy as we may mount a couple of go pros in there to fim the run but still not 100% sure yet.

Still need to sort out a costume (seen some camera ones but I need to be abel to drive a Mini in it)

Time to revive this thread

Last years run ended up be cancelled :-(

But its back this year :banana:

So I've started going through the images agian.

Then I suddnely had a thought for the fancy dress.......

A costume covered in photos possible from the 2013 event (like I'm doing for the car) but how could I achive this how easy would it be?

Has anybody got any ideas of how I could create a costume it need to ne light and I need to be able to drive a classic Mini in it.

how about sticking to the same theme and get two large canvas prints along the same lines ie a negative with minis on them on both canvases and sew them together with a pair of shorts at the bottom and holes cut for your head and arms

Iron on t-shirt type prints on a cheap pair of overalls? Or even just a few of them on a t-shirt?

A TLR costume might be less impractical.

When I was photographing a fancy dress party I went as Clark Kent/Superman. Wore ordinary pants and shirt with a superman shirt underneath. Opened the buttons of the shirt about halfway down so the logo was visible and half undid my tie so it looked like I was halfway between Clark Kent and Superman. Then added a trilby with a Press badge and some fake glasses and voila!

It also goes to show that the Clark Kent disguise works for Superman even though it's only a pair of glasses as people didn't recognise me on the night!
