Hey folks,
I have been casually mucking around with webstuff for a few years on a personal level, and at the minute enjoy showcasing my favourite photos, weather they are any good or not!!

Anyway the site is a wordpress template that alot of you are probably familiar with, but I have tweaked a few things. Would anyone mind having a look and possibly comment on what they like or don''t like about it?

I have tried to be consistant throughout with my changes, but you gotta love how much of a stink IE kicks up all the time compared to FF and GC!!

The site is nine8five.co.uk
Also if anyone actually fancied commenting on some photos (if they were bored) that would be nice too, as all I get at the minute is fortnightly spam! :'(

I am also running another plugin for smartphone browsing, but am yet to configure much of that!!

Thanks for looking and any feedback you wanna give!

The homepage looks smart and crisp, unfortunately which I'm sure is a oversight, after clicking on a thumbnail then the 2nd pic appears clicking on the 2nd for what I assume would be the large pic is giving me Googlemaps showing a road in Southapmton. It's doing this with all the pics.

Nice looking site! I too noticed the google maps thing but after refreshing this page have been beaten to it. Spent a long while looking through your site and it's looking good! Some great work on there too!

You need to use the _blank tag to stop new pages loading on top of your site - and taking people away from it.

Should Href not be the url of your nine8five site instead of googlemap?, I could be wrong of course.

Very nice site. Can't see why the 'Inspirations' menu item warrants its position in the top right though.

Slick site and I 'quite' like it.

Couple of points for me.

1. Instead of 2 rows on the homepage I'd have three - I do like the expanding thing you have going on when the cursor goes over the picture.

2. When you click on the picture to view it the image is too small. The blog/ text bit takes up about a 1/3rd of the screen. In my view it would be better to have a bigger image and less text.

Anyhow, that would work better for me, but as we all know it's all in the eyes of the beholder.

Cheers.

Phil

Thanks. Well that shows the location of the photo. Although indeed, I think I did oversee that clicking the actual image showed the location too, as I already have the option on the right! Every picture should have a different location, although a couple are the same because they were shot in the same place!!!....

Yeah, I have been meaning to do this, but dont like constantly opening new tabs for the viewers, so think Ill try and add lightbox or something to the gallery and a blank / new tag for locations! Thanks

It probably is the problem, but it is generated code, so cannot go and edit that, will have to have a look at the PHP!

Cheers. Its where the list of actual pages appear but default. I am happy with them here for now, and there will be some more added later on too! Cheers

Thanks for the feedback and comments! Really appreciate it!:thumbs:

Hey Phil, thanks! :)
I think my thoughts behind what I was doing, was to keep things as minimal as I could for fastest loading time possible. Later I will try and add the higher res photos to the links on the actual pages! Thanks for your feedback!

clicking on the 2nd for what I assume would be the large pic is giving me Googlemaps showing a road in Southapmton. It's doing this with all the pics.

This has now been changed. Clicking the 2nd image (the main image within the post) will now open a higher res photo in Lightbox! :)

You need to use the _blank tag to stop new pages loading on top of your site - and taking people away from it.
The google link now has been removed from the photo and now is just a link on the side, this has also been targeted into a new frame! :)

I have given 3 rows a bit of a whirl, and TBH dont dislike it, I'll keep it like that for a while and see how we go! I am happy with how the post displays with the split screen, I like having the info there and it keeps loading time to a minimum. If you now click on the photo or the link next to it, you can see a higher res photo now! :)

Thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate it! Also, thanks to the people who have posted comments on the photos! I have now added a quick bit of anti-spam as after those posts, the flood gates opened and I was getting a spam comment in for moderation every hour!!! eek!

Some nice photos there, I'd agree that they're a little on the small size though. But on the otherhand it loads nice and quickly!

A thing that I think is missing is the ability to use the left/right keys on my keyboard to go back and forth through the images. Its something that almost all photo galleries all now have and not having it is a little frustrating for navigating.

You know what Tannachy, I totally agree! That is going to take some SERIOUS head scratching for me to do that though!!!

Thanks for the nice comments! :) The images are about 500px on the longest, but everyone now is linked to a higher res one of 1024px! Is this better?

:)

Site is looking great now, agree with tannachy about the use of the arrow keys on the keyboard would have been a nice touch, I don't know if you can turn that on via the software you use but otherwise, it's looking good to me and some great pics.

Thanks Frank! Cheers for the comment and critique too!
This feedback means so much to me, so thank you everyone! Beers on me!! :P

:)

I have been looking into keyboard navigation but with not much success so far! :(
On another note I now have google plusone on each of the post pages now! :)
