THEIR INITIAL REPLY
Hi Gary,

Thanks for getting back to us so quickly. That's a big shame the moderator deleted that message as I thought the experience we were offering would be of great interest to amateur photographers.

At the moment I'm not really sure what to say in regards to payment terms. We have a couple of photographers on our team already but they do it simply for the experience, their portfolio and for the love of the sport. However that probably wouldn't be of much interest to you given you have good experience and have been doing this for years, etc.

The terms I guess would all depend on what game really. We wouldn't be able to pay for Championship photos certainly and that would restrict you no doubt given there are only so many teams in the Premier League. I think geographically Hull would be the only Premier League team you could get too without a significant expense?

I mean if you do have interest in attending games for us and have a price point in mind, feel free to suggest something to us. Though I doubt we'd be able to go higher than £25-30 and only then it would just be Premier League games.

If that is of any interest, do let me know.

Best, (NAME MISSED OUT)

Hi Matt

The prices quoted are to be honest a **** take and you and your organisation should be ashamed of yourselves for even offering crap like that, its guys like you who are killing photographers and their craft by preying on the amateur photographer who might like to see his work in print, in my vast experience once a photographer accepts crap or no money his career is already over, he gets a bad name for himself and other photographers quite rightly get annoyed that they are willing to work for silly money or even nothing at all because the Media then accepts that there are mugs out there who will work for free or for peanuts and then that sort of payment soon becomes the accepted norm

Im sorry but i will even go as far as to say businesses like yours should be outlawed, youre no better than 18th century Mill owners

Sorry to be blunt, well im not sorry actually

We are here to cater those who want a first step on the ladder Gary. We have extremely positive relationships with universities and photographic societies etc in helping amateur photographers build some experience, which is becoming ever more vital in getting paid work. Apologies if you feel offended by the payment offer but we'd be making a loss at even the price I quoted for you...

We aren't a huge organization with unlimited resources and can only pay what we can. Apologies if you thought we were something different.

What do you tell people when they ask for free advertising space on your website, heres a quote from your own website

"Advertising
(company name removed) is one of the fast growing Entertainment websites in the world. Globally the site now attracts 2.5 million unique users every month and serves over 25 million page views.

We can offer a number of advertising solutions, whether it be straight forward media buys or more bespoke full site takeovers, we can accomodate most requirements. Get in touch with us today and tell us about your advertising requirements and we will get back to you within 48 hours.

E-Mail: (REMOVED)
Telephone: (REMOVED)"

Please dont tell me that anyone who gets in touch with you regarding advertising gets it for free, why would you not treat others as you expect to be treated yourselves with regards payment, with 25 million page views a month you certainly wont give it away

And that reply my friend just shows your level of professionalism, your total lack of respect in how you deal with and care for people and why any budding photographer should avoid you and your business like the plague

So if any budding or even experienced photographer wants to work for these people drop me a PM and ill put you in touch with them :bonk:

If anyone saw the topic deleted by the mods...

Er, not so much deleted, as removed because job advertising is a perk of regularly contributing members as set out in the Jobs Offered and Wanted Section Gary... and as a new member with zero posts other than the advert, we simply followed the applicable guidelines.

Though, from your experience, it looks like we may have made the right call - and I'm sure your post will serve as a warning to aonyone who may have seen the post before it went bye-bye

You must have hit the "delete" button as opposes to the "remove" button

I myself hit the report button but got the "you dont have access to this page" so you must have been pretty darn quick off the mark.

However we greenies can ;)

So as Mark quite rightly said, removed,
and put in a straight jacket, so it can't cause anymore issues,
rather than concrete boots to became fish fodder ;)

Drat!! Rumbled! OK, OK, so the secrets out, any threads we have to remove are stashed in a huge jaffa cake box stack out the back, next to the hamsters room. :naughty:

hhhm. I have worked for these people in the past on commision (I never mentioned TP) and i got paid a standard rate.. certainly more than is listed here.. I also have them down as my fastest ever payer as they settled the same day as the invoice.. I know of at least one more TPer who does and someone else a few people know who does..

Maybe they are looking at other avenues.. maybe someone has told them TP is full of cheapies (more than likely).. I dunno... But my dealings with them was top notch..

In some ways this links to the How much do you want to be paid thread

Is the consensus on TP that shooting on spec then is bringing the industry down and should be avoided at all costs?

The way I read it was that Gary was saying paying someone £25 to photograph a is bringing the industry down.

I was thinking if I would be quite happy to get £25 plus commission for photos published.

No the same at all Rob, loads of photographers make a decent living shooting on spec, of course they can go several games without getting a thing published and can be out of pocket by a fair few quid but then they can get several games on the trot where they might get 3-4 photos a game published at anything between £75-£250 a photo, swings and roundabouts, i choose not to work on spec but on commission, these sharletons were offering a seasoned pro a maximum of £25 per game to cover Premiership matches and had to cover their own fuel/food etc, etc

They were offering rank ameteurs nothing except a nice warm feeling of seeing their photos published on line and a nice feeling of being shafted up the butt by 3 monopods

You can also bet your last dollar these guys have a pretty extensive image library of other peoples unpaid for photos which they then resell on the open market.

Ah ok thanks Gary. Maybe I should have read it a second time to understand it properly.

I had thought maybe it was £25 PLUS commission but as you have said no.

I bet they will have loads of people going for it though - for a while.
