Hi,after seeing some of my photos,i've been asked by a friend if in a couple months time i could take some family photos of herself, her partner & their 2 young children.
Although i am just an amateur photographer,i would still like the photos to be really good.

I will be focusing on the eyes when taking the pics, its more the lighting i'm concerend about as it'll probably be at their house.
I'm going to see if they would be interested in another location.

Any hints/tips would be greatly received thanks :).

if in someone's house you'll need some kind of lighting, what have you got at the moment? houses can be surprisingly dark and also you'll need to think about backgrounds, also what lenses have you got/planning on using?

well at the moment i've got a 18-55 & a 75-300, i'm hoping to
get a 50mm 1.8 prime at some point,in terms of lighting
i haven't got any soft boxes etc,it'll
just be a flashgun angled to bounce the light, think it may be
best if i ask them if there is a favourite spot outdoors they like
to go to,and take the pictures there.

Good daylight, a light coloured wall opposite and some flash may be enough, but it'll be more fun outside. My recent experience was in a kiddie-cluttered house, trying to get the kids to sit still for a second was quite difficult. Outside you can try to capture more informal shots.
