This probably aimed at the ladies but some of the menfolk will probably help too :D

On recent shoots with models a lot of them seem to be wearing fake tan. This not a problem if it is applied evenly but what I have noticed is that more often than not the legs seem to suffer most from an uneven spread of fake tan. This makes PP a little difficult as the legs seem to be blotchy.

The question is; Is it harder to make it even on the legs especially the thigh and buttock areas? Are womens legs built of different stuff from their upper bodies?

If any one has a PP process that will help with blotchy legs please will you share?

It depends on a few things, one, if its the rub on stuff, then you can pretty much figure it out for yourself why its blotchy. If its the san tropez, well if its done at home, then its likely to be crap as the average female is not trained in tan application. The best way to avoid blotchy fake tan, is for the model in question to go to a proper salon that specialises in fake tanning, not some room above the pub where one of the barmaids has been "teachin meself innit"!

Disclaimer: my sister is a beautician

my sister is a devil for bad fake tan, i've done some body shots of her and i've had to use lots of shadows and level fiddling and b&w to disguise it, and ofc that compromises the image. I'm interested to see what people come up with!

Generally fake tan goes blotchy on the legs because the hydrochlorite and isopropyltetraflourite present in self tanning solutions pool subcutainiously in the hair folicals, thus not evapourating and developing at the same rate as that, that lies on the non-folicular skins surface. This mainly happens on waxed legs, rather than shaven legs, as the folicles are devoid of root membrane. This is also the reason why arms dont go as blotchy, because generally the hair is still in place.
Fake Bake works well.
