Can you some how get round the fair use policy on a dongle......T mobile keep throttling me back at 200mb ...... and I need to see some video footage on a regular basis...
 
I have no alternative at times but to use it.... I have googled it and there seems to be a lot of talk about VPN but I have no idea what that is or how it works
 
Nothing you can do but upgrade to more data. I have 15Gb a month for that reason
 
That's why it's called a 'fair use policy' I guess?

There are some around, 3 for example (at least their mobile,contracts are. I assume their dongles are the same).
 
Where do you get 15gb a month from and at what cost..... originally my dongle was unlimited but that soon changed...... it is not that I use it that often but when I do I could need it for three our for days at a time.... I wonder are there any other options

Three do for 16/ month on 24 month..

Seems they don't do unlimited dongle. Odd as they do it on phones.
 
I stream netflix, iplayer (in HD) and love film without an issue to my ipad or laptop.

Mine doesn't cost that much though :D

I do find that using a Mifi on the window sill in hotels makes it better as it gets better signal and repeats via wifi to my devices.

Three has the best signal and speed across the country (100s of locations) compared to other networks, but voice isn't as good compared to vodafone.

If you look at the videos you can soon get through your monthly allowance because 75 x 4 min videos equals only 300 mins of video which is really not a great deal.

Typical file sizes for a 1hr programme are:

Streaming (PC, PS3)
Low bandwidth streaming (480Kbps) = 190-210MB
Standard quality streaming (800Kbps) = 320-340MB
High quality streaming (1500Kbps) = 600-640MB
High definition streaming (2800Kbps) = 1.10-1.20GB

Mobile
Mobile streaming (396Kbps) = 160-170MB
Mobile 3g streaming = 120-130MB

Downloads
iPlayer desktop (1500Kbps) = 600-640MB
Windows Media Player (WMV) = 550-600MB
Portable devices (WMV) = 210-230MB

Set-Top-Boxes, FreeSat, TVs etc
Standard quality streaming (800Kbps) = 320-340MB
High quality streaming (1500Kbps) = 600-640MB
High definition streaming (2800Kbps) = 1.1-1.2GB

So that is 12 hours a month of HD or 25 odd hours for high quality

They're not limiting the amount you use, just the rate you use it.

So there's some left for everybody else.

Being "throttled" is even worse than being cut off - I'd much rather be given the option to buy more data than get slowed down - that's one reason why I would never use a broadband ISP that has a throttling policy.
 
The ASA have strict guidelines on how the term unlimited can be used and what consequences there can be. I'd check out their guidelines then see if t-mobile are falling foul of them.

Giffgaff got into bother with theirs.
