So Windows update fails and causes a re-boot every time the laptop is switched on .
When the laptop is switched off the blue screen shows "Installing 8 Windows Updates" (or something like that).
When powering the laptop back up the screen shows "Configuring Windows Updates" (or something like that).
After a few moments it says "Failure configuring windows update - reverting" then switches the laptop off.
Powering up again gives a brief "Preparing to configure windows" then the logon screen ... and off it goes again when switched off!
I have done a manual update via Windows Update but just get exactly the same thing.
Dell XPS L702X running Windows 7.
Any help would be much appreciated, TIA.
Thanks to David357 for the resolution to this problem:-

I had the same problem, so deselected all 9 updates, then installed them 2 at a time. PC went through the installs, restarts, and no further problems. Too much information at one time??
I left the internet explorer update until last.
