Facebook: So far today.

Ah! but do you still speak to your neighbours, family and friends face to face or do you just Facebook them instead?

I speak to them. I would even walk a few miles to see someone rather than call them on the phone.

Steve.

I guess i don't ha\/e a brain or any real life friends then.....:p

What's twisting my nipple with Facebook at the moment are all these stories that keep popping up and they all seem to end with "you won't believe it", "it will blow your mind what happens next" ...the list goes on and on.

Maybe you're all just goddamn miserable toerags:p:D

I guess i don't ha\/e a brain or any real life friends then.....:p

now there's a forum title waiting to happen (do you not ha\/e a V key either ? btw)

I see/speak to my friends no less than I did before Facebook, I communicate with them a whole lot more now. I also keep in touch with people (eg, ex work colleagues) a hell of a lot more than I did before Facebook.

That - I use it to talk to my friends in south Africa, Australia, America etc

and to have private conversations with people here that I don't want to commit to the pm system... s*** did I just say that out loud

No I just don't like being told what will "blow my mind" and then to click on the link to find an article about a genetically mutated tomato  I'm sorry but it could have been something interesting like a flying four headed monkey that breathed fire and lays eggs. I would name it "Thunder Wing Doom Slayer"! :D

Actually i was expecting someone to reply 'tell me something we don't already know'.... i guess i did sound a bit like wizard of Oz lol

Correct no \/... now missing 3 keys.. the windows one the left arrow and stupid \/:mad:

Only last week, I met up with a friend from school who I hadn't seen for 31 years. He moved to Hong Kong and was back here to visit his father.

I wouldn't have met up with him without FaceBook.

This has happened a few times for me.

you can buy laptop keys on ebay for a pittance (its often worth replacing the whole key set if its started shedding keys) or of course you can get a basic wired external keyboard for about a tenner or less

Thanks, i did wonder if you could get the keys, e\/en a keyboard might not be a bad idea, you don't realise how much you use the letters, ie the \/ until it goes and you end up looking like an idiot that can't write properly :D

very true the x on mine has died (I'm using a plug in keyboard to write this) - you don't realise how many words have the letters in until you can't use them. course on mine its down to hitting the keys too hard so the microswitch has died and new keys won't help - hence the external

incidentally the going rate seems to be about £3 a key or £10 for a whole set - so with 3 keys missing you may as well do the latter. Course that's for the common makes like dell, acer, Lenovo etc - if you've got something exotic it could be more

Ah ok, probably pointless me trying to get keys then as the \/ has lost e\/erything, the left arrow you can still use as the sensor is still working and co\/ered by the little bobbly thing, the \/ did but i kept ha\/ing to seriously stab it to work and i guess i killed it

Only in the opinion of self righteous people who don't use it and consider that fact as a sense of superiority.

The reality is that Facebook is as good or as bad and as trivial or as relevant as you want it to be. You just tailor it to suit your needs.

I communicate more via Facebook now than I do with e-mail and I have stopped all of the stupid game requests, etc.

Steve.

please tell me HOW to stop ALL the stupid game requests and all these DUMB quizzes.

All you need are the . and - keys and you can write everything in Morse code!

Every time you get one, click on the little arrow at the top right of the post and you will get some options. One will be something like 'stop requests from XYZ'.

Easy, don't look at the bloody thing
Same as when I hear about cyber bullying, don't use whatever site its happening on. If the bully gets no response they will soon stop, even if they don't so what just wasting their time.
All these mediums are optional just like TV, if you don't like it use the off switch

Personally don't get all this sharing everything online, bought something on Amazon the other day and was asked did I want to share my purchase via social media
Who gives a toss that I got a bottle of insect repellant, that's right nobody

Absolutely. When people were moaning about FaceBook changes a couple of years ago, my standard response was that they should stop paying for it and walk away.

Nope not me, a previous employer slagged off the MD on FB and never gave a thought that it might be read.
