I always cringe when someone puts a post up on one of the local town facebook pages for 'recommend me a photographer' - I always find it delightful to check out some of my newest competitors in the area as they are always shockingly awful but get recommended highly. I've just checked out another one in Southampton who has a Facebook review page added and one of the reviews literally says this ''don't know or care about photography, but I do know this female should not be trusted with other people's husbands"

I am literally falling out of my seat at some of the crap that exists on social media and this review just made my afternoon!

:lol: :lol: that has given me a good chuckle...I do exactly the same when I see those requests, though not for checking out competition aspect as I've no interest in paid photography like that...I don't enjoy photographing people at all if I can get away with it :lol:
 
Some of them are soo bad that my wife has to stop me from emailing them to stop ruining the art! I know we all say it's not fair to pick fault but there are some real con artists out there charging money for work that cannot be construed as photography. I found one of those iPhone Pro toggers aswell!!!!

I think anyone who takes a real interest in photography likely knows of someone at least one person who charges money for photography when they really shouldn't be...hell I know one locally, I became aware of her when she shot the wedding of a acquaintance and honestly the standard was beyond abysmal...at the time of shooting this persons I knows wedding she was shooting using a bridge camera of some sort...I do know that she has now moved on the consumer DSLR....something else I do know is that in 3 years her photography skill has not improved...

But you know what...her customers all seem very happy with what they get...sadly in this world not everyone can tell the difference between a quality photograph and a mediocre snap...in the same way some people cannot tell a McDonalds burger, from a quality Aberdeen Angus Burger from the local butchers
