Yes, I know, Facebook will never be known for displaying decent image quality due to it's compression effect thingy, but hear me out for a minute.

I've noticed lately that when I use Chrome on a windows PC, images in Facebook were looking properly awful, more so than usual with terrible banding and artefacts everywhere. Even photos posted by well respected long time photographers using DLSR cameras were looking like they might as well been taken on a cheap smartphone camera.
So, I did a quick experiment by using Edge and IE to view Facebook, something I rarely do, and images in there does look a lot better. Same goes when I view Facebook on my iPad's Safari browser. Yet, they look terrible in Chrome.

Anyone else noticed that? (Please forgive me if this subject had already been brought up elsewhere in here). I did check if Windows or my monitor were running in 16 bit colour.

(Incidentally, I never use the FB app, what's the point of having that on the tablet hogging memory resources when I can view FB just fine in an internet browser, but that's another matter for another time).

i forget but isn't chrome the only colour managed browser out of those?

got an example we can look at?

Jet chillin' one afternoon.

Left is Facebook in Chrome, where you could make out the greenish banding tint on his fur at top right corner, along with some banding in the background. Right is Facebook on IE which seem to preserve the natural colour a bit better considering.

In order to improve the time it takes to load web pages Google Chrome compresses any images on the web page.
