Afternoon,

I was hoping one of the tech savvy people on here would be able to let me know why this is happening.
Below is a screen shot of a Facebook screen, when I type in my web address it shows a logo that I had tagged to the footer of the site as the image for the site

I don't want that image does anyone know how to change it? I've removed it from the footer but its still there?

facebook why by Alan Cook, on Flickr

Thanks

Hi Alan,

There is a line of script being output from your website that tells Facebook what image to use - This is the OpenGraph image tag:
<meta property="og:image" content="https://static.wixstatic.com/media/34d513_86a31835840446df8ff6742e07df7a94.jpg"/>

That image is still the image that you no longer want Facebook to use.

I don't use Wix and so can't advise you exactly how to change that value, but it needs changing to whatever you want to use as the default image when you put your website link on Facebook.
Try the instructions here: https://www.wix.com/support/html5/ticket/2e02aec1-2a76-42a9-b1aa-57c85da60fab

Once you have changed that on your website, you will need to do one further step -

Facebook caches all of the information about each link its scraper has visited.
So, when you first added your link Facebook noted what image you wanted to use and it remember that.

If you go here, https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/?q=alancookphotography.co.uk you can see all of the information that Facebook has about your page, including the image.
Once you have properly updated your Wix page, revisit this link and click 'Fetch new scrape information'. Facebook will check your website again and you will be able to see instantly which image it will use.

Andy.
