Facebook and google - true or false?

Hi,

I was told today to be wary of putting images up on Google or Facebook as they could then sell on the images, now I remember hearing something about that ages ago but thought it false.

Is that the case or is it just a rumor resurfacing?

Sites that host images need very flexible user terms in order to protect themselves. They aren't going to sell your work, because they aren't entitled to. The user terms protect you from suing them in the event that an image from their server is taken and used elsewhere.

Hmm, flexible yes but I can think of no scenario where a company would need the option to sell your images just in case.

Anyone heard anything about Google pictures?

yeah but they dont have such an option :shrug:

the hysteria arround facebooks T&Cs is generated by people who have no grasp of IP - people might as well get excited about the TP terms (or not as these are equally harmless)
