Fabs' 365 for 2009.....Fin

Day 28

Exit Left

Just a title for the photo, I'm not going anywhere! :D

So, four weeks in and still going, I've passed my own expectations. Feeling a
lot better today but been a lot busier too. Had to go to the jobcentre this
morning for the biweekly humiliation, then off to the hospital this afternoon
to see the ENT nurse for my annual ear check and de-waxing. :gag:

I truly hate going in to sign on at the jobcentre, they really do make you feel
like a workshy layabout, especially when they're checking through the sheet
you have to provide showing a log of what you've done to try and find a job.

At the other end of the spectrum, the hospital appointment went really well.
I was seen within 30 seconds of arriving and the nurse was great, really
gentle and friendly. Turns out she has horses so that was a good start. :D

Fabs - well done on keeping your 365 going! I sympathise about the job centre stuff - i'm due there on friday. 3 degrees and this is where I end up - it is truly humiliating...

only just caught up with this..and have just read the last 5 pages..where does the time go these days.great to see you still going on this marc....it's not something i could see myself keeping up this long, and appreciate the commitment, honesty and you letting us into your private life,as it can't be easy....great pics also, but i think we've seen enough self portraits just for now, thanks :p

Marc,

Just done a catch-up of the last few days shots, and what stand out, to me, is the varied PP work you manage to achieve on the images.

Another great shot which provides a further insight into the life of Fabs:clap:

As an aside my first proper job was working in an Unemployment Benefit Office (went in to sign on one day and they offered me a job, couldn't really refuse). Back then we sat behind screens and the signing area was completely devoid of anything that might make you feel human. I remember clearly the day the screens came down, I was pleased it gave people more of a sense of worth as they didn't feel like they were being treated like criminals. I guess it will never be a pleasurable experience though and I hope that you find work soon.

Thems the ones, and to think some people in the office couldn't understand why people got angry and aggresive towards us.:(

Another great self portrait mate, I know what you mean about the jobcentre been a while since I've been but it really isn't a very nice experience thankfully its only once a fortnight, heres to hoping you won't have to visit them many more times.

Sean

i understand how frustrating getting a job is, Dave still hasnt got a new job yet since getting made redundant in november.

Thanks Liss

Not to mention what looks like the same sweater several days running now :suspect:

Howabout a pic of the job centre instead? ;)

 I happen to have 2 of those jumpers (One grey, one beige)! ;)

lol. Any old excuse, especially in the absence of colour pics...

Suppose we'll have to give you the benefit of the doubt in this instance... :suspect: ;) Of course there's an idea for you Marc, a split picture with different colour jumpers in each one?

You do have an unhealthy obsession with my jumpers.

Is Marc the new Val Doonican with his jumpers?!!!

Where's todays submission marc? Don't tell us you've been rehearsing Val Doonican songs all day?

Day 29

No Pictures Please!
:D

Just for those of you sick of seeing my ugly mug! ;) A completely different jumper too! :p

A quiet day today, finished with a visit to the livery yard followed by steak and
chips and an evening in front of the telly. Looking forward to a busy weekend
though, hopefully meeting up in London on Sunday for the Chinese New Year
celebrations.

Another 2 job applications put in today so we shall see what comes of those.
Got at least eight on the go at the moment, just one interview would be nice.

Talk to the hand....

Might read your palm later.....

Day 30

Day30.jpg

Is it safe?

Been playing around with the lighting again today. This one involved one of
the flashes positioned behind me with the other in front a little to the right
of the camera. I'm quite pleased with the result, although there's a bit of a
harsh shadow above my index finger. Maybe I needed to have the flash a
little higher? Still learning about lighting, mostly through trial and error, and
it's good fun. Also starting to read through the Strobist website. I've also
now tethered the camera to the laptop which makes things a lot easier.

Had a phonecall from one of the agencies regarding a job they put me
forward for before Christmas. Turns out the present incumbent decided not
to leave after all and that's why things hadn't progressed (Nice to be told
these things). Anyway, he has apparently given notice again and they are putting
my details forward once more.

Liking yesterdays shot Marc nice idea, all photo's of me should involve me being hidden behind something

Liking the lighting on todays, thats something I really need more practice at, especially as I really enjoy it just never have any willing subjects to practice on

Sean

Just caught up with the last two days worth of pics on everyone's 365's.

I like the hand idea (might even pinch it for late in my 365 ;) )

Thanks Sean. Why do you think I'm doing all the self portraits? It's the only way I can practise. :D

Thanks Chris, I'll be watching out for it. :suspect: :D

You're using speedlights aren't you?
I think you'll need a softbox to get rid of that harsh shadow, moving a speedlight will just move the harsh shadow about.
To be honest though, I didn't notice it until you said, don't think it'd bother me, I like the shot.

Thanks. By speedlights, I assume you mean flashguns in which case, yes. They've both got diffusers on but I'll look into softboxes.

Marc, the catch-light in the eye of the last pic would indicate to me that it is too high, try and get it at "ten-past-two" *laughs* x

The flash was about two feet below me and about two feet to my left.

A Bit Cheesy!

Yay, no picture of me today! Instead, this is my entry for the Camera Club
competition next Wednesday. The theme is "Past its sell by date" and, as
you can see, I'm not that imaginative. :bonk: Still, I'm rather pleased with it
but it will be a toss up weather the judge will be or not.

So, have got to the end of the first month, a twelfth of the way there!
:woot: Was out all day today with the horses (Ours and then went to umpire
a couple of chukkas of polo at a friend's place). A very enjoyable day, but
bloomin' freezing! Looking forward to London tomorrow and the Chinese
New Year celebrations! :woot:
