I month or so ago I tried this dish in Asturias and really enjoyed it.

If anyone is in possession of a traditional "family type" recipe I will be delighted and proud to receive it.

I don't want a google recipe, a real home cooking family one.

I bit the bullet.

Decided to go "old school" and had a crack at making it from memory. :) and make it up, traditional style, yer know.

Turned out really nice

for the base

6 cloves Garlic
1 onion
1 inch chorizo diced fine
1 inch smoked ham diced fine
1 can white beans, juice included
1/2 cup water to cover evaporation

fry garlic until soft onion
add diced meats and fry till oil comes our of chorizo
add can of white beans and the water
slow simmer for 20 mins

Add 2" chunk Chrorizo
2" chunk smoked ham
2" chunk black pudding
Warm through until meats hot.

I managed to get four bowl from this recipe, serving is one scoop of the beans and pick out the meats and place on top.
Next portion warm the soup and add the chunks of chorizo, ham and black pudding again and warm through.
rinse and repeat until its all gone.

Reminded me of "pot au Feu" when making it

and a Spanish version of Lancashire hot pot, or scouse using the beans instead of potatoes, a hearty winter one pan dish.

That recipe looks like hard work to me.. :D

I didn't know where Asturias is so I Googled it. It looks really nice .I thought I'd post this Youtube for others to see.

I see it's on the NW coast of Spain so facing into the Bay of Biscay and 450km east to the border with SW France. How did you come to know about it ?

Flippin heck john its only one step away from boiling water - Chop stuff and open a can. ;)

I found it a few years ago when I was looking to buy a farm there before the dreaded Brexit.
When it was wifes birthday last month I bought her a short break there as a present !
I knew from my research that it was beautiful, but my goodness I did not appreciate how nice it really was, outstanding coastline, kind of like the cornish arches but every few hundred yards there are sheltered bays and coves, crossed with scenery of the lakes or peak district, Fabulous mountains which created massive feelings for the ancient Spanish navigators on their way back from their South American adventures. When the saw the "Piquos de Europa" they knew they were home. The temperature range also appealed, a quite narrow band with an average minimum of ten in winter but only getting to 25 in summer,

We are going back next year for several weeks.

Food is awesome as well, and cheap when off the beaten track, weekends get lots of Spanish tourists from the cities as its cheap for them too. We used a town by the name of Llanes as a base, pronounced "Yanis".

The Cachopo is likewise an outstanding dish, a slab of beef split and layered with cured ham and a local blue cheese, dipped in breadcrumbs and fried. a huge feast about a foot square for barely more than the price of a couple of burgers.

And if you like cider, which my mrs does, dozens of fresh local brews at that time of year several actually made in the restaurants where you dine.

Cannot wait to go back me.

It was the length of the ingredient list that took me aback..Lol

All our holidays have been with Tui-Citalia and Jet2 .We're both retired so like it all organised. No mountain trekking ,though. I'll look into it. It really does look nice and we love mountains/lakes ..hence interest in ItalyAustria/Switzerland.

Anyone with the slightest photographic interest would not be disappointed, and thats not counting the culinary delights.

Chatting to a pal about the "eagles nest" on Sunday, he reckoned that was an outstanding part of the world.

I felt that way about Andalucia too, although it's more arid than the north. We went there for a cheap holiday, staying in the middle of nowhere, and found it fabulous. We'd no idea it could be so lovely, and had rather associated Spanish holidays with knotted hankies and Watneys red barrel. TBH Much of Europe is lovely, although there are enormous flat, dull expanses too.

Spain has so much variety in its geography. We watched an episode of The Trip (Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon) which saw them drive north to south, I think initially driving around part of Asturias - it was gorgeous, although I think it gets a lot of rain? We thought about it as a place to move to also pre-Brexit, as an alternative to Brittany, but of course ended up in Northern Ireland which we love.
Interesting food - thanks for sharing the recipe.

Recipe is made up lindsay, not official!

It is green in the countryside, like the lake district is green, and they grow fantastic juicy apples, its not arid and all pine trees like the holiday resorts at all. beaches are a new one round every cornee

These three secluded coves in about a mile and a half, absolutely stunning rock formations and a kind of taster, most picturesque beaches I have ever seen.
