I have just sent an email to Sover Wong regarding my F2.

Its super mint an an absolute joy to use with the 50mm F1.4 and I have been eyeing up a 35mm lens for it but the light metre DP-1 is tired and the needle dances about like an extra from riverdance :-)

Email back from Sover he has a 5 week backlog and he off on holiday :-(

Pretty much the only real problem that can happen to an F2, but he is the best - and his replacement part is supposed to sort out the Photomic head for life.

yep i do shoot it with my Sekonic at the moment but this version is so nice i think it would be a good investment down the line, i think the F2s will be a much sought after classic down the line

here is mine

I got lucky when I bought my first F2. It had a late DP1 which is supposed to have a more resilient ring resistor. Shame that the battery box broke in the F2 robbing it of power. Battery boxes are supposed to be another weak link.

I would accept the wait & let it join Sover Wong's queue. If my first F2 had been I better cosmetic condition I would have sent it to him to repair the battery box. In the end I got an F2A off of ebay from Japan. Still have the DP1 from the first one & hopefully this coming Friday it will have another body to mount on. I am off to London on Friday to see The Who in concert at Hyde Park, close to Victoria where Mr Cad are who have 2 nice looking black F2 bodies without finders advertised on their web site.

Totally smitten with the F2 since I first tried one.

Its sat on my desk at home in its case with a note "wake me in September" :-)

There is just something about the F2 that I can't quite put my finger on, its kind of the incredibly solid build quality and the almost Stanley kubrik lines of the prism. also the glass on the 1.4 just looks like no other lens I own. it looks like its magic glass.

When I pick it up its just solid and feels fantastic to hold. the viewfinder is massive.

Also I am working on a secret project to strip and clean the focus screens and will report back on that.

it involves a ultrasonic bath :-)

Disappointing trip to Mr Cad to pick up another F2 body for my homeless finder. Neither of the bodies on the Web site was in stock. Offered me a deal on another one but it had seen better days. Will have a look on ebay over the weekend to see what is about.

Agree about the F2. I know the F3 and later models had all sorts of 'improvements' but the F2 was the last of the completely mechanical, manual, bodies and it's still my favourite.

Found a nice F2 body with no finder on ebay listed by KEH in the US & have bought it. Was ideally after a black one as my F2A is chrome, but this one looked too good a condition to miss for the price.

oooh chrome one :-)

I like chrome
