Fuel mass flow must not exceed 100kg/h

Which is what riccardo was disqualified for in Australia last year
What is being suggested is that on deacceleration fuel is still being accumulated at a rate higher than needed then pumped /increased beyond 100kg/hr when needed
The meter will still show 100kg/hr but the motor will be using a lot more under acceleration
Bosh use on road cars a bellowed fuel pump to even out the pulses Bosch do the injector system for merc
Still cant see Merc going into red bull reputation area
 
With the huge quantities of money (in normal terms), maybe there should be an FIA inspector allocated to every team to keep an eye on things and ensure full compliance with the regs. Far easier to spot oddities as they're going in than to pick them out through the tangle of pipes, wires etc.
 
Wouldn't it be hilarious if Red Bull were found to be doing something dodgy with the fuel in an attempt to up the power, after all they are saying the power delivery on the Renault is undrivable and wrecking the rear tyres :)

Can't really see Merc being that underhand to be honest. They seem to be one of the more honourable teams. Plus if Merc did have such a system on their engines, sorry power units, then wouldn't Force India, Lotus and Williams have been provided the same system.
 
I think its a certain team that is causing waves that isnt winning now and has made a mess of the new rules
Charlie has to listen and act to dispel any rumours of rule breaking hence the additional sensors and cost to to all teams
Its fast approaching that only bernie will be their friends but birds of a feather and all that

Lewis Hamilton took his 34th F1 win in the Australian Grand Prix and now looks likely to surpass Sebastian Vettel as the most successful active driver later this year. he could also pass Ayrton Senna’s total of 41 victories this year.

Vettel hasn’t added to his total of 39 wins since the end of 2013. Hamilton has won 12 races in that time.

Hamilton is making similar inroads on Vettel in the all-time pole positions table. He started at the sharp end for the 39th time this weekend, and Vettel has 45 pole positions.

For the sixth time in his career, Hamilton scored a ‘hat trick’ of win, pole position and fastest lap. The latter was his 21st, putting him level with Fernando Alonso and Gerhard Berger.

Hamilton has decided against using the number one on his car which is reserved for a world champions, making this the first race since the 1994 Australian Grand Prix not to feature a car carrying the number one. For the second year in a row no one has chosen to be number two, and not since the Monaco Grand Prix in 1994 have both those numbers been missing from an F1 grid.

This was the 30th win for Mercedes, 20th consecutive podium appearance and also their 40th points score in a row. Williams were in the points for the 20th race running.

Three drivers claimed the first points of their career in the race, and two of those were rookies. Felipe Nasr brought his Sauber home in fifth place – the best result ever for a Brazilian driver on his debut. Carlos Sainz Jnr also took points home from his first race after finishing ninth. Marcus Ericsson broke his duck after joining Sauber, becoming the first Swedish F1 driver to score points since Stefan Johansson’s remarkable podium finish for Onyx in the Portuguese Grand Prix 26 years ago.

And while he didn’t score a point, at 17 years and 170 days old Max Verstappen became the youngest driver to start an F1 race, beating the previous record (Jaime Alguersuari) by almost two years.

Having failed to score at all in 2014, fifth and eighth for Sauber was their best two-car finish since Nico Hulkenberg and Esteban Gutierrez came in sixth and seventh in Japan two years ago.

However it was a difficult start for the revived McLaren-Honda partnership. Starting their first race together since 1992 – which coincidentally was also in Australia – Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen could manage no higher than 16th and 17th on the grid. This was McLaren’s worst combined qualifying performance since the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix, where Button started tenth and Hamilton 24th after being excluded from qualifying.

Only 15 cars actually started the race. This is the lowest first race grid since 1966.

When the chequered flag came down just eleven cars were classified, the smallest number since the 2008 Australian Grand Prix, where eight drivers were classified and only six were still running at the end.

So all the fudging and nonsense statement teams by McLaren were just to cover up a mechanical fault? How could they have hoped that blaming the wind (and by implication the driver) was ever a good idea?

As you say, I can see Ron getting the hump now that Alonso has told the truth about the incident.

I wonder what has gone off at Woking for Alonso to wait two weeks and just before the press conferances of this weekends race before contradicting Ron and Boulier

I hadnt read that, was that from Boulier after the alonso statement ?
I will correct that just read it, it was Alonso who said he had a diffrent rack to suit his style but he fully trusts the team
He has reverted to the same as Jenson now

Well I thought that was the end to the Alonso saga but apparently not a few journalists arnt yet satisfied it wasnt medical

I wish the reorters were F1 educated (or even educated) I am struggling with tight steering and locked steering there is a big differance but not it seems to them

Both due for a toto, lauda kicking it could have been a one two on the grid
I bet Alonso is happy as a place could be coming vacant at Mercedes if the boys dont play nice rest of the season

Well done to Vettel for staying out during the safety car and then managing his tyres.

Very poor tyre strategy by Mercedes, why on earth they came in to change tyres after only 5 laps, just because of the safety car, is totally beyond me!
 
Well done Ferrari, game is back on now not the domination norm which is getting bored. Mercedes strategy didn't work in Malaysia GP but still a good 2th & 3rd finish.

Now Ferrari only need Kimi Raikkonen's car to perform!!

His car, and him, definitely performed, he just had some bad luck!

Agreed, really good entertainment. Ricciardo had a terrible race. Hero to zero. And kudos to the Toro Rossos.
 
Anyone else find it odd that the Mercs seemed down on pace just after that fuel flow stuff came out? Only joking....sort of.

I think Merc made some stupid tyre choices which cost them more than usual because they were hard on the tyres in the heat, still not convinced Ferrari will be as close in the cooler races.

The extra sensors need to be installed by china If I was cheating I would get my moneys worth before they shut me down

Hamilton was peed off because he couldnt see any sense in fitting slower tyres than sebs but seemed well at ease chatting to seb on the podium with a sort of disinterest in Rosberg
Rosberg on the podium said he would be pushing them hard, which to me suggests he thinks he will always be behind them
The team were just shell shocked at Ferrari's pace from Melbourne

Sebastian Vettel needs just one more victory to equal Ayrton Senna’s tally of wins.

Vettel lies fourth on the all-time list of winners following his 40th grand prix victory in Malaysia, which also made him the first driver to win the Malaysian Grand Prix four times.

This was the 222nd win for Ferrari, who are now 40 victories clear of McLaren at the top of the all-time team winners’ table. It ended a win-less streak for the team which stretched back to Fernando Alonso’s win in the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix, 34 races ago.

This isn’t their longest win-less run: between 1990 and 1994 they went 58 races without a victory. Gerhard Berger brought that to an end with their 104th win, which at the time put them level with McLaren as the most successful F1 team in terms of wins.

Uniquely, Vettel is the first driver to score his debut win for Ferrari having already won an F1 race using one of their engines. This is because he is the only driver in F1 history to have won a race powered by Ferrari but not in a Ferrari – his breakthrough victory in the 2008 Italian Grand Prix for Toro Rosso.

Vettel started the race from second position, which was the first front row start for a Ferrari driver since Felipe Massa’s second place at the same race two years ago.

Following a win-less 2014, Ferrari took their first win with turbo power in F1 since 1988. On that occasion the team also halted a streak of domination by one of their rivals.

While Vettel scored his 40th win, Lewis Hamilton took his 40th pole position. This was also Hamilton’s 150th F1 start.

The fastest lap went to Nico Rosberg, who has now scored ten during his career, as many as world champions Graham Hill, John Surtees and Mario Andretti.

Not only does 17-year-old Max Verstappen have a great chance to to break many ‘youngest ever…’ records, he will probably get to keep them as the FIA is setting a minimum age limit of 18 for F1 racers next year.

Having become the youngest driver to start a race in Australia two weeks ago, he is now the youngest driver ever to score points in a race at the age of 17 years and 184 days. He took the record off Daniil Kvyat who set it in last year’s Australian Grand Prix aged 19 years and 329 days.

Sixth place on the grid was not only Max Verstappen’s best starting position so far, it also equalled the best result achieved by his father Jos, at the 1994 Belgian Grand Prix. The elder Verstappen took third place in that race but did not get to stand on the podium – he was promoted from fourth after team mate Schumacher was disqualified.

Roberto Merhi started his first race and achieved the first finish for himself and Manor.

Michael Schumacher's manager has called for realistic expectations as son of 7-time world champion prepares for F4 race debut.

Sabine Kehm, who is managing Mick Schumacher, was present for the pre-season test at Oschersleben today as the 16-year-old prepares for his first season of single-seater racing.

A bit of madness in China, a spectator wanted to drive a car.

- A track invader sparked a security panic during free practice at the Chinese Grand Prix after climbing over the pit wall and demanding to test drive a Ferrari. The fan scaled a fence and risked disaster by running across the tarmac in between the Sauber of Marcus Ericsson and Nico Hulkenberg's Force India before vaulting the pit wall and walking calmly towards the Ferrari garage. Waving his ticket, he shouted "I've got a ticket, I want a car!" before being tackled by stewards and handed over to the police, a race official told AFP, confirming that security would be beefed up after the incident in Shanghai.

The Mercs may have a race on their hands come Sunday. The Ferrari's are looking quite strong on the longer runs.
Looks like pole will be the Merc's though.

This just got a bit more interesting, still hope Lewis can win a close race with Seb, that'd be good to watch.

Oh, and in other news (well old news really) RB are still papping on about leaving F1 etc etc etc.
 
Rosberg looked like a petulant schoolboy at the press conference, while Hamilton and Vettel were both all smiles. He really didn't seem to want to be there.
 
Good race today I thought, battles throughout the field.
Lewis showed his and the Mercs pace for a few laps when needed, don't think Nico would have enjoyed that too much.
Max did some good moves, he does have a very good feel on the brakes, at least one of those overtakes was from way too far back for most :)

Comedy moment goes to the stewards failing to get the Torro through the pit wall, and the directions Pastor got after overshooting the pit entry, he'd done well up to that point too.

Agreed, an enjoyable race, a bit bland for the lead but plenty of action further back. Amazingly we even got to see a McLaren do an overtake! ;).
 
Nico is doing his, now customary, whinging about Lewis beating him. He needs to get over it, Seb never actually made an attempt to get past Nico today.
All the whinging is just confirming to Lewis that he has Nico beat already.

How long before Paddy is giving team orders to Nico to hold up the Ferrari's to ensure a Merc win for the lead car :-)
