F-Stop Ajna dimensions

Just wondering whether anyone has an F-Stop Ajna bag that they could take some measurements of?

I've previously taken a Tilopa as hand luggage even though it's max dimensions are over the standard allowance. The trick was not to fill it above the top of the internal aluminium frame.

I'm now thinking of getting an Ajna and it would be useful if it fitted within the more restrictive allowances such as Ryanair - the Tilopa didn't.

The key dimensions are the bottom of the bag to the top of the internal frame (needs to be no more than 55cm) and the depth of the bag with just an icu in it (needs to be less than 20cm)

I bought both the Ajna, and the new Tilopa, with a view of deciding which I preferred - went with the Tilopa for the extra volumn. But from recollection, both were more or less the same height, the extra volumn was gained from the width towards the back. BTW I'm guessing you're buying this either 2nd hand, or from a dealer who has some in stock? If buying directly from FStop, be prepared for 3+ minimum wait, your payment to be taken at point of purchase. There are rumours that the company is in dire straits (lead time for deliveries getting worse over the course of 12 months) and may fold. So be sure to pay on a credit card, so you can claw back your money - which is a shame, becuase they're great bags.

Thanks, that's a shame I was hoping the frame of the Ajna was shorter.

Yes all too aware of the issues with F-Stop - have experienced the 3+ months of waiting previously. Only got my order after constant badgering and escalation to the CEOs office. I'll be buying second hand or from somewhere with stock (if I can find it). Wish there was a company making similar bags with better customer service, but I've never found another company doing quite what F-Stop does.
 
Just realised something - it was a Satori and not a Tilopa that I took as hand luggage - if I remember correctly the frame was under 60cm even thought the height of the bag was more than this.

So I'm thinking there's still a chance that the frame of the Tilopa and Ajna may be a few cms shorter than the Satori. If you wouldnt mind measuring up to the frame of the Tilopa when you get a chance that would be fantastic

In the end I sold on the Ajna as I found them roughly the same size but the tilapia straps were more padded and felt nicer when carrying weight. Also the large pro and XL pro ICUs fitted better in the tilopa, didn't push on the back panel and felt more comfortable to carry.
 
The frame height of my tilopa BC is 55cm. One of the reasons I got the tilopa was because the icu could be removed and the bag go in the suitcase if it didn't meet the carry on requirements. I would love to watch the airlines faces when they think they are going to get you for oversized luggage and you just pull out the icu and put the bag in the hold case!

The tilopa BC is the previous model but there probably isn't much difference in the dimensions. The main updates were the material and side pockets.
 
Thanks Rob, that's useful. They look to use the same size frame, and 55cm is right on the Ryanair limit, so that could work.

I've just sold a Tilopa on here but I didn't ever take it as hand luggage, and I never measured the frame. I hadn't realised the frame sizes were the same (or similar) between the Ajna and Tilopa - I'm looking for something that will get on Ryanair etc without hassle - I've done the same before with putting the bag in the hold and carrying an ICU, but just fancied getting a bag that I know fits.

If there is nothing in the top or pockets it wouldnt look so big. I was surprised that there wasn't much difference between the tilopa and Ajna but it kind of makes sense the frame size is roughly the same on both (and the satori) as the frame is there for the harness and not the height of the bag.
 
Yes it does make sense that the frame size would be fairly common. F-Stop have also just reminded me that the frame is removeable. I'd forgotten about that, so I suppose if it came to it I could just remove the frame to get it within the limits.
