Sat at home in the p***ing down rain with our poor excuse for sausages and a bottle of IPA

Well, it's a personal choice, but I don't consider it moral to evade import duties and VAT
 
This feels a rant too far in the current circumstances. Yes they could have delivered it a bit more quickly I'm sure - but to be a few days late is probably better than say... being dead. I've seen so many people treating every day transactions that we have been used to for decades as 'unchanged' - and moaning and whinging when something is late, or the wrong item delivered, or not being able to reach customer services easily. There's a whole raft of reasons why things are running a bit out of sync at the moment - to the OP - as much as your newly ordered item is late - and as much as it's a frustration - have a bit of patience - it'll get to you. When it does - you can enjoy it. Until then - chill out a bit and relax.
 
I've actually found FedEx to be bloody brilliant.

It's fine as long as nobody sends me anything using Herpes as a "delivery" agent.

I have a small claims judgement in my favour against their agent's claims to have delivered the items in question and irrefutable corroborated evidence that their former agent was nowhere near my house at the time it was allegedly delivered.

Combine that with their alleged "photographed proof of delivery" that I replicated in the courtroom by taking a picture of the inside of my pocket... Was a fun day out.

I imagine so. Not convicted I panamoz have a UK warehouse at all though.

No judgement for people going down that route, I've bought from panamoz. But don't kid yourself that there's import duty and VAT paid on it. You don't get a VAT receipt for a start.

You're right Andy, it was shown long ago that the "uk warehouse" is simply a Regus virtual office address.

Well if the package has a customs sticker on it, it won't have come from the UK warehouse. Not hard to work out.

It seems to me that what actually matters is whether VAT and import duty is deliberately evaded by under-declaring the value of the goods or by mis-declaring the value, e.g. by stating that the goods are children's clothing, which is VAT exempt. That's where the morality bit comes in.

As the company say they will pay any duty, the morality issue is down to the company, not the customer.
 
If UK VAT has in fact been paid, then of course it would be a trivial matter to ask the company for a VAT receipt, giving the correct value of the item and the itemised amount of tax. Any UK company would be happy to do this. Curiously enough, in all the dozens of threads on HK grey market companies, nobody has yet produced such a receipt. A few people have asked, but nobody has received one. Odd, that.

As the bloke lives in France, he won't be paying any UK VAT, so it's all a pointless argument.

My lens from Panamoz didn't have a customs sticker on it.

Isn't that very similar to saying that if there aren't enough police to catch murderers, rapists and burglars then the police are at fault, even though any reasonable person would think that the fault lies with the criminals.

We all know that Customs and Excise (among many other public services) are starved of resources, but obviously one of the reasons that they don't have enough resources is that some people are happy to evade the taxes that everyone needs to pay. So, it all comes back to the question of morality, which is kind of difficult to explain, because different people interpret it differently and don't seem to be able to understand those who hold different views.

One of the best examples I've heard of this difference in understanding is this statement "There are only two kinds of people in this world, those who run into a fire to save others and those who run away to save themselves, and neither can understand the behaviour of the other".

In the UK distribution is being affected with staff shortages and elsewhere I should imagine. Lets hope by now you've put the situation in perspective and think yourself fortunate you're not in hospital with Covid.
 
So there is a substantial moral issue and likely problem with the legality of using Panamoz?
