Thank you Stephen. The beauty of owning all the OS maps for the area is that I can appear incredibly knowledgeable.;)

Even owing the maps isn't enough - you have to both know what the exact direction you're looking, and be able to identify which is which. Your abilities are only outstripped by your modesty. :)

I've taken a really dodgy phone shot of it. I might convert to b&w and see if it looks any better!

Whilst making our somewhat convoluted journey home, we called in at the Well of the Seven Heads Store (and cafe - that's the important bit). The actual Well of the Seven Heads is a well where following a local shindy seven heads were deposited. I assume in those days people just lost their heads rather quickly. Anyway, we noticed a rather unusual handle to a door into the shop's storeroom, and I immediately thought of a member of the the F&C party who had expressed interest in items such as that used for the handle. No name, no packdrill. So, for @Woodsy here is a photo.

You supplied the answer before he even axed!

It always takes me ages to review my images, compounded this time by having to download them again. These two were on the (wet) Monday, when we went to Loch Etive with @kendo1 (who also took some shots, IIRC). No doubt very different from what the guys got on Wednesday, but I do like these...

a) Trees

b) Water falling

Both with Pentax MX on FP4+, I think with the Vivitar 35-70 lens (which I transferred to the LX later).

Really like that second shot Chris. There's a nice crop to be had (IMO) if you're interested?

Thanks Jonathan. I'd certainly be interested in the crop you can see. I've already cropped it down from 3:2 to 4:3; I tried 5:4 but wanted more width. What would you do?

Hmm, actually, I've just given it a try and it doesn't work. As you were! :D

I'm actually intrigued at what you were thinking, Jonathan,

I quite like this image, but it also really annoys me! The rocks are there because I was looking for "foreground interest" in the composition. Other versions of the shot had better foregrounds, but were deficient in other ways, and I didn't like them (quite) as much.

Thinking about this one, I thought it might have benefited from going really aethereal and almost abstract, leaving the foreground out entirely. Unfortunately none of the shots I took has quite enough space to make that work. I also think I could have benefited from a somewhat wider lens to get a bit more of that cloud in the frame, but I just had the 35-70 on the camera (IIRC) and everything else was in the car. When we came back from our abortive walk/slosh through the swamp, the wind was up and the whispy cloud gone!

I had the same thought, mainly because the foreground* seems out of character with the rest of the scene. I couldn't get a crop to work though, and realisitically you needed to be standing somewhere else!

* I also have a thing about foregrounds and landscapes, and don't like them :D

I think this was the Wednesday morning (the good day...); I think everyone else had departed some time before, and I went down to the Onich beach, and walked round towards the left (East). There was no real colour in the sky, but fantastic crepuscular rays that just got stronger and stronger. This was the best, I think...

Pentax LX, Vivitar 35-70 (you can see how much I like that lens!), Agfa Vista 400. Shortly before it all got too bright, the film ended and I got a couple of shots on Portra 400... which didn't work so well!

EDIT: This session prompted my "if I don't get something I may have to sell all my cameras" WhatsApp message. I'm not selling!

That's a bit of all right Chris, glad you've decided to carry on being in the gang.:D

I've had confirmation that the whole deposit will be returned to me in the next day or so. I'll be in contact with those of you who contributed tomorrow, hopefully, to arrange the return of your money.

As you accept editing of your images, I've just tried a b&w conversion which I prefer tbh as although the scene and the lighting is superb, I am not keen on the green cast on the foreground.

I'll have to think about that one, Asha! I haven't noticed the green cast. I did think it was rather monochrome (specially lacking any red or orange colours), but nevertheless I thought what colour there is was important. I've never really liked the idea of mono sunrise shots, but in this case it does seem to be working...

Don’t let the colour fascists get you down Chris, I can’t see a colour cast

Well if it's nit picking time I'd say it's more of a yellow cast o_O

Never mind the subjectiveness, it's just been announced that we were in the 5th best area in the world that week :banana::banana:, although no reference to the weather in the article! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-45940644

The Scottish Highlands and islands have been named one of the top regions in the world for travellers in 2019.

Lonely Planet has revealed that the region has been listed among its top 10 "Best in Travel" destinations.

Featuring fifth on the list, the guide describes the Highlands and islands as "one of the wildest, least inhabited and most scenic parts of Europe".

Well I would have taken some fishing rods if I went...fishing when it's raining and photography at other times. Mind you hiring a boat and then getting sea sickness is no fun, Now did I tell you the story.........

Brian, your attendance at a previous meeting on a Honda 125 was spoken of with reverence and awe, especially your journey home in the rain. (y)

Has anyone lost a Wista lens panel? There was one left over in the LF lounge after everyone had claimed their equipment, and in the absence of other claimants, I have it. It was in a clear plastic bag, just large enough to hold it, and as far as I can recall none of the panels I brought were bagged. If anyone thinks it might be theirs, I'll check the hole size.

Not me... I did change a Wista lens board for a Chroma one using your tool, but re-packing my bag today I noticed I still have it, and found another one too. Both Copal 0, if anyone wants theirs back from me!

Lens boards :)
I couple do to 'adopt' a couple of 'em ;)
Time to make a wanted classified i think....

Took three 4x5 colour shots over the week, and two out of the three came out well enough to post!

Went for 16:9 crops on both as they look much better.

Rannoch Moor after sunrise.

Quite a bit of water there @Carl Hall but it can't have rained so much as there's no sign of Noah:D:D

Good to see that you braved the elements ( in wellies i suspect:p) to get a couple of decent shots, .....particularly liking the seconf one(y)
