F&C Resources?

Morning all.

Yes, it is a silly hour which might explain this thread, but bear with me, I am watching the Cricket WC Final and having filmie ideas/thoughts.

So, I have managed to find the tutorial/discussion thread containing links to various camera shops that are known to sell Fabulous & Classic equipment, but nothing useful for suppliers of film/chemicals/dark room stuff, reputable ebay sellers, repairers, etc. Even the one I have found, you have to actually read the attached discussion to find the suppliers.

So, my mad thought at this silly hour is to update & change that tutorial, so that all the links in the discussion part are listed in the tutorial/opening post under relevant headings. I am thinking now of the regular, always around suppliers, rather than one off grab a bargain while its still there kind of thing. There may well be threads for the other stuff already around that I simply haven't found yet.

Would it make sense to have comprehensive list of recommended places for all our film requirements that we can use as reference and to point new [to film] people at? Have we already got one and I just haven't found it?

Between myself and @TheBigYin I am sure we would be happy to update the guide as you guys add your recommendations and it can include stuff like website link, location of physical shop if applicable, whether mail order is available, and so on. Mark has already created a list that contains links to various resourses, so this would add to that, if that makes sense.

No work, well other than posting any recommendations you have once I have twiddled the tutorial/discussion

We need beginners to test drive threads like that, the regulars know where to buy stuff so don't really need to use the thread to source chems, film and whatever, it takes somebody who's tried to use it to point out its failings..

Exactly... I have updated it all with what I could find in the existing thread, now we just need a willing victim volunteer


Edit: having said that, the physical shop locations would be useful for everyone, for example when looking where to book that romantic weekend away, make sure its near a shop you haven't visited before

Right.....its messy, why do we have a sticky directing us to a sticky :/....if I were a n00b I'd hope all the resources I would be likely to need were all in the same place. ie.....F&C resources sticky.


Film & Conv resources > 4 subs.....Tutorials, Equipment suppliers, Material suppliers, Processing suppliers

or could lock F&C resources and have 4 threads in which peeps post, mods to update 1st page of each thread to include new additions as and when....

Not getting your post at all. You know Tutorials [resourses] and the discussions attached are in different places, yes, so can't have 'subbies'


oh and just to be clear, all I have done is update an existing linked tutorial, which is in Marks resource thread [as you suggest, all together easy to find]not created another or added any more stickies

I couldn't find it either, the developing one I thought it might be turned out to be to something different. Anyway, the HUGE developing first film thread that used to sit right at the top, I have resourcified it, so the main tutorial is now in that area, whilst the discussion is here in F&C [this is how ALL tutorials work btw], and added the link into TBY's stickied post about all the resources/tutorials, so hopefully that has tidied things up a bit too. Its a fairly active discussion thread, so unsticking hasn't really caused a problem, kts still o the front page and can easily be found again if needed.
