F&C Posters on Ello

Looks interesting, any invites left?

Cheers Darren, PM on the way

I joined the email list four weeks ago and still haven't heard from them. A shame really as I am quite curious about it!

Do you need an invite?

I didn't even know that was an option (I should read threads before replying)! Sure if there's invites going I will take one. What do I need to do?
Pm me your email address and I'll sort it.

Are you guys finding this interesting? I followed the link from the first post, and found the display format a bit annoying (as someone else said, I needed to scroll to see most photos). Also, I couldn't find a way to move from there to other people's work. Maybe if you're signed up it works better?

I found some of the promises a bit unlikely too. If it's successful it will need more than pocket money to sustain it, so what's the business model? It MUST have one, or it's doomed...

If you read the WTF section of the site, it says:

Very soon we will begin offering special features to our users. If we create a special feature that you like, you can choose to pay a very small amount of money to add it to your Ello account forever. We believe that everyone is unique and that we all want and need different things from a social network. So, we are going to offer all sorts of ways for users to customize their Ello experience.

The vast majority of Ello's features, the ones that all of us use every day, are always going to be free, and we'll keep improving them. When you choose to pay a small amount of money for a new feature, you help support Ello as an ad-free network and help us make it better and better.
I'm not sure that their purpose is to be completely free to use, but to be free of ads and free of data mining. They're hoping that you will offer some financial support if you find the site valuable, similar to how Wikipedia operate, I suppose.

This all looks interesting, does anyone have a spare invite please?

I'm not at the PC at the moment but if I am able to invite people I will post up and offer once I'm home.
