Really sorry to hear that Richard, it must be a worrying time for you. This is the time to follow doctor's advice, and I'm sure there will be other meets in the future.

All the best meantime, Peter
Sorry to hear that. All the best.

Remember that Cave Dale cave entrance with the strange sound emanating from it? Well here's the cause:

from Wikipedia:

Several passages lead from the entrance, known as "The Vestibule". The only one open to the public is "Lumbago Walk", named as traversing it requires most adults to stoop. The route continues through two main caverns, "The Great Cave" and "Roger Rain's House", and into a passage, "Pluto's Dining Room" – This is now the furthest point currently open to the public, but before 1990 the show cave extended almost twice its current length; down "The Devil's Staircase" to "Halfway House" along a raised bank path which crossed an underground stream known as "Inner Styx" via a series of four wooden bridges, under "Five Arches" to the junction of Buxton Water Sump. This section often floods in winter, and occasionally summer, which required regular clearing of debris and mending of the safety fences at the start of the tourist season in April (cave tours were not an all-year event until 1997). In the mid-1980s, there was a worldwide scare over the possible dangers of radon, a gas found to be present in this lower part of the cave and a potential issue for tour guides frequently exposed to it. This, along with the maintenance required, led to the Five Arches part of the tour being closed to the public in 1989, the same year that the BBC filmed The Chronicles of Narnia at this location. It can, however, still be accessed by cavers, and a ventilation system here expels cave air to surface at Cave Dale.[4][5][6] There have since been efforts to return this area of cave to a more natural state by erasing the history of its show-cave past, removing the wooden bridges which had served generations of paying visitors.

Which camera was that from please and is it a crop or full size? My prime lensed 120 couldn't get that close.

Edit: no need to reply, I've seen the post about this on "show us your film shots".

I have a feeling that I might have shot this at the 300mm end of the lens I used. It was my first time using it and I wanted to see what the performance was like. The grain has maybe disguised some of the detail, so I'll have to try again on another subject at some point.

A couple from Peveril Castle with ORWO UN54 in the MX, Pentax SMC M 28/2 lens (it shows!).

a) The scene emerging from within the keep, not a good photo, but showing some activity in addition to our little group.

b) Two of the group at the top of some steps within the grounds. There were a lot of steps!

c) Across from the steps to the keep itself.

Right, actual progress. The Castleton C41has finally been used up and will be in the post Monday. Some of the Minox film that MAY contain Castleton is being developed tomorrow.

The scanner has been deployed on the 120 b&w plus the C41 120 lab scans have been viewed. The scanning computer which has the DVD (for the lab scans) is creaking, it copes with the actual scanning ok but can't handle any editing or even decreasing the resolution for this forum. Although the SSD improved things I'm guessing the cheap Currys laptop on Win 8.1 (upgraded from 8 I'll have you know!) isn't up the job anymore.

Stay with me whilst I resize the scans on the tablet.

There are a couple I cannot upload from the tablet but these are enough to be going on with. I won't use the excuse that the Fuji 400H was 3 years out of date, well not much! You'll have to excuse one's that aren't properly masked in the scan - I detest scanning.

I'm nowhere as good as photographer as the other attendees especially in terms of composition. I'm sure there a number of these you wouldn't have posted. However I had thoroughly enjoyable day out with a lovely bunch of folks. Being as these were all taken on my C3 that had, and still does have a sticking shutter, I'm happy enough with the results.

That shows we were enjoying ourselves. But every time I see myself in these pics i think I should loose weight. Perhaps viewing the forum whilst eating a packet crisps and not being a gazelle like @ChrisR has something to do with it!!

A few more...

d) The one where one of our group attempts a delicate dance move.

e) I was very taken by this figure on the horizon, but I wish I'd noticed the top of the castle coinciding with the distant hill!

f) Near the top of the dale.
