I think Brian is saying that if you look at the link which shows area of outstanding natural beauty there are many in England and Scotland but not many in Wales which, as he rightly says, is a very beautiful country.

Thanks for clearing that up although I still don't see what the Chilterns have to do with the price of fish.

Just browsing the net for something about the Chiltern hills

I was just perusing that webpage for information related to the Chiltern hills, for an activity unrelated to the F&C forum.

it looks like the southern half is best for meets

Whilst browsing said site, I became aware that the southern part of England has more than it's fair share of AONBs, which would make it suitable for future F&C meets

but am surprised the results for Wales as IMO is mostly lovely all over.

I am also surprised that there are not more AONBs in Wales, as I find it to be a particularly lovely area all over.

Well meets encourage me to take more photos and don't fancy traveling all the way to say Wales or Yorkshire moors etc etc by myself at the end.
Just adding:- it must be an age thing as in the past thought nothing of touring the WW1 battlefields in Northern France by myself....h'mm maybe when you are younger it's "get up and go"

Well Richard I started off with the map of the Chilterns and using the right arrow went to the overall view of England and Wales and was surprised at the results...so it looks like a meet in the future (if interested in scenery) that's convenient travel for many people, would be the green area east of Wales.

Great I am with you for that being the next meet, well done mate.

Anyway there is more to the map than areas of natural beauty as quaint villages, buildings etc etc are interesting as well and they must be all over England and Wales.......but for me I don't know much about the Midlands or NE and only know areas around York (and York) and are lovely.

Bloody hell Carl that's outstanding! I think you should become the f&c's official Brian translator.

Who new that Brianish wasn't like Cornish, a disappearing language.:D

Brian lives in his own parallel universe with its own logic. It's best not to concern yourselves with the tangents and detours as it is beyond this dimension's understanding :)

That's because most of the particularly lovely bits of Wales are national parks. (About a fifth of the country) </serious mode>

Well, who's up for a French meet next year? :)

Well, who's up for a French meet next year? :)

Well at least Asha would vote for that :D Or put all the members that are likely to come to a meet put their addresses on a map and pick the best\nicest spot in the middle o_O

Well, who's up for a French meet next year? :)

Down the south east corner??;)........sunshine / blue skies practically every day:cool:........Nice airport receives flights from many UK locations:)...................and most of all it saves me flying northwards to see you lot!:D

Oh and don't forget you'll have a translator to hand ...at a price!!:ROFLMAO:

We don't need no translator. Speak slowly and shrug after most sentences. Sorted :D

I was thinking about the Normandy coast...

Nice is so... Southern France :) Too many distractions.

A request.

Do any of you good people that are coming on Peaksmeet2016 (as I like to call it :-) have either a Voigtlander T or an R which they could bring along for me to have a fondle of. As im sure everyone knows I once had an R3a which i really liked but they are extremely expensive now and I wondered whether a T or an R might be a good compromise.

I thought if anyone had one it would be you Watson, go to the top of the class. Extra merit points will be given for there being a lens attached to the camera. :D

Just the T or R will be fine Nick, I dont really want to tempt myself into buying another R3a....well not yet anyway. ;)

Now its time to start thinking camera. Mainly so I've got time to get some film for what ever I go with...

So fast and light with the RB or take the Sen Hao and actually get some use out of it. Not sure a 4x5 fit in my pack once I put a weekends worth of clothes mind.
