For a while now I have been considering getting a softbox for my sb600 to use for portraits, and have finally decided to take the plunge and get one. It would mainly be used for quick on location shoots, outdoors.
Although before I purchase one, it would be helpful to have other opinions.

-The difference between the 24" and the 32", how does the softness differ? Is it worth it paying the extra and getting the bigger version? And also the practicality? Are they both easy to set up/put away?

-Is the ball head any good?

-Anything else I need to consider?

Or should I be looking towards a completely different product altogether?
By the way I am talking about the FiTP boxes, not the lastolite branded ones.

Thanks, Sam.

I use 2 x 32" and wouldn't go on a shoot without them TBH. They're very quick to put up and take down. Not as quick as a brolly obviously but the payoff of controlled light is worth it.

I haven't used the 24". Aside from overall size and consequently the softening of shadows I believe that the 24" only has one layer of diffusion whereas the 32" has 2.

The ball heads are invaluable, even if you're using a C-stand. Its not enough to just soften the light, you need to be able to direct it effectively too, so spend the extra.

The EzyBoxes are well made and pack down very well. They're not cheap but worth every penny IMO. That said, I know Flash-in-the-pan (on here) sells softboxes for a lot less. Never used them and can't comment on them but other can let you know their thoughts.

Has anyone got experience with FITP softboxes? Is 1 enough, or 2? Do they completely replace large shoot-through umbrella?
Obviously two gives you more options, but there is a lot you can do with one, and a good reflector...
