Hi,

Being new to the modern photography scene I would be grateful for some advice relating to EyeFi technolgy.

When my new Nikon P510 arives I want to use its geotagging facility but am unsure whether a special EyeFi card is necessary, or whether a normal EyeFi card will store and transfer all necessary data?

Any advice is gratefully received, thanks in advance.

I would imagine if the Nikon P510 has a geotagging facility it would embed this info to the exif info and transfer with the image, also i believe efe-fi have an upgrade option on their site for the connectx2 upwards so you can add geotagging at a later date if for some reason the exif geotag doesnt work

Maybe the above may help

Thanks, that is an interesting link.

On reflection I think I will use a bog standard SD card.

Out of interest, I wonder if Eye-Fi a popular add on for many users?

I use one, but i suppose it depends on your needs.

I like the benefit of a backup on PC and online or straight to my iphone so no info is ever lost

IMHO Auto backup to your phone in your back pocket within seconds of taking a photo would come in handy if your card fails later in the day and you lose all you images.

Saves the " O sorry Mr Bride and groom i never got any church images" conversation.

Memory never full feature, when it runs out of space it overrites confirmed uploaded images. Just a couple of way i can see the benefits

I use eye-fi and it works well. You don't need to take out card. It is a near instant backup to my smartphone. My smartphone syncs with dropbox so its stright to cloud too.

From reading others experiences, it doesn't appear as functional on the ipad platform. I'm having difficulty geotagging raw. geotagging isn't spot on using the WPS system (its not gps).
