Hello everyone,

I'm interested in trying out some eye cups, round eye cup, but the only problem is I don't know what kind of eye cup is compatible with my camera (Nikon D80). I found an eye cup that I want, nikon dk-19, but I don't think it'll fit my camera. Can anyone suggest any alternative eye cup that will fit my camera, the round one not the rectangular one like the nikon dk-19. Thanks
 
I dont think Nikon do a round one for the D80, you might find a 3rd party one though. The Dk-19 wont fit as its goes onto a round threaded holder for the D3,D700 etc.

Never used them. Just google it ans see what comes up.
 
guys thanks again! I found an easier way to my problem. I found out that I can use a nikon dk-19 if I use it with a nikon dk-22, it's a adapter for rectangular type finder, and to complete it you should buy a nikon eyepiece finder FA/FM~~to prevent it from falling or so.

Awesome, a DK-22 and a DK-17m is about the same as the 3rd party item. The 17,19 weigh in at far less.

sorry i cannot offer advice, but i have a dk-19 on my D3 and it's fantastic. could never live without one now. very much worth getting one!
 
Brought a couple of cheap eyecups, for my d90, off ebay. Only problem was they were a wee bit loose and I subsequently lost one, but it proved to me that they are a useful addition. Will definitely be looking at getting the adapter and eyecups mentioned.
 
I'm dragging this thread back up, I ordered and finally received the Nikon parts:

DK22 eyepiece adaptor
DK17 magnifying eyepiece
DK19 rubber eyecup

Bad news is, they don't go together. The 'female' thread that the eyepiece should screw into is too small. Doing a bit more research, another eyepiece is needed- a #2925 finder eyepiece (cant find a DK reference for it, but using that part number brings it up on Amazon etc.) The DK17 can then be screwed into that and used.

If you don't want to use a magnifier (Dk17m)- just order a Dk22, the #2925 and a DK3 which is a different size rubber eyecup that slots straight onto #2925. (@£40 for these three on Amazon)

As I have the parts for the magnifying eyepiece already, I've ordered a #2925 to make it all fit together. I'm hoping it won't jut out too far on the back of the camera though!

I bought a DK3 and Nikon Eyepiece FA/FM~~ haven't bought dk22 yet because the shop I went to is out of stock. But the salesman said to me that DK3, DK22 and Eyepiece FA will prolly fit together he wasn't sure of this he hasn't read anything about it from the net or somewhere.

I'm curious about the magnifying eyepiece. how does it works? what does it do?

Sorry, missed this reply. Yes the bits you have will all go together and work. I received the FA/FM eyepiece today but it cannot be used with the magnifying eyepiece. I should have just bought the one from ebay mentioned earlier in the thread!

The magnifying eyepiece does what it says on the tin, it magnifies the view into the viewfinder. It would have been nice to use, but I will just get the DK3 and add it to the Dk22 and FM/FA eyepiece.

What a waste :( the magnifying eyepiece should have been cool. Thanks for the info though!

Shame, sounds like I'm back to the 3rd party magnifying eye piece then, when my long term goal to go all Nikon.
