Hi all

I've been a "victim" of an extremely elaborate Ebay fraud. And I wanted some suggestions/opinions on here.

So, a couple weeks ago I "won" an M1 Macbook I decided to give a go to on Ebay. Heard the hype about M1 and wanted to see how it fared next to my i9 (up for sale btw!)

Now, I realized after I won and paid that the seller had 0 feedback. I thought then I may have been hasty, but being PayPal thought it was all OK. Anyway, I heard nothing after about 3 days, despite the listing guaranteeing that it would arrive within a couple days. I sent the seller a message and queried it and had no reply. I chased again a couple days later but nothing until finally this weekend. I got a reply stating "sorry, I don't have tracking, I'm away and had someone else post it. If its not arrived just open a dispute". I thought it was odd but.. hey ho. I decided to open a dispute. I added in the details there explaining nothing arrived etc. No update from the seller. Then suddenly yesterday, the tracking details were added, which show it as delivered last Wednesday! And then I got a message from Ebay saying the case had been escalated to customer support to make a final decision. Of course, within 30 minutes the case was closed as the tracking show it was delivered.

Even more interesting, it was sent by Special Delivery and shows on the tracking as delivered. Its signed for by a different name, but that name is my mail lady I think (in covid times, they sign for it).

I spoke to Ebay and they advised get in touch with the courier and ask for proof of not delivered etc.. which will be interesting. I'll be trying to call them later on today. I explained that I wanted to see a receipt from the seller for shipping (no response to that ion course!) as I'd like to view the receipt to see the weight of shipping, Etc Etc.

Either way,.. this is an extremely interesting (and stressful!) situation. I don't understand how this has happened to be honest.

Clearly - the MacBook did not arrive last Wednesday, I have had one to two parcels but I can't recall if I actually had anything on Wednesday. I'm waiting on my mail lady to knock on the door with mail and I'll have a chat to her about it.

A real humdinger! Any thoughts?

Does the tracking show GPS co-ordinates of the delivery location? If no ask your depot if they have them.
All of their PDA's have a GPS which logs the co-ords when the item is scanned at the point of delivery.

I received a similar email but immediately blocked it and it went into my junk folder.

Spoke to Royal Mail (one hour on hold !) and they're investiagting it their end now. I can't see any cooordinates my end, and they wouldn't advise their end. I mean, it suggests it has being a tracking number that shows as delivered to Chester. I'm just wondering if its like a slip of papaer thats been delivered somehow.. since a 13 inch macbook box is pretty big! I have no idea, I'm shooting blanks here, all I know is it's not arrived. So flummoxed.
