Something a lot of my pics end up with is extraneous objects littered about. Most of the time, I don't even "see" them in the viewfinder when I'm taking the shot in the first place, and only when I've downloaded the image do I spot them. A case in point, is the metal bar running across the subject in this:

Is this just something that comes with practice or do I need to train my eye to pick these details out as I'm looking through the viewfinder. How long did it take you all to figure this one out and how hard did you have to work at it ?

I have always had the same problem, I tend to 'zone in' on the subject and forget to check the background or foreground for stuff I don't want.

What were you intending to get in the frame i.e. did you mean to include the girl's feet?

Yeh it comes with practice. Taken me ages though.
I've started forcing myself into a regime now where as soon as i see a subject i like the next thing i think about is the background and whether just moving a few feet will make it better.
Everything thats around the actual subject is quite often what makes the picture or not i think.

Thanks for the replies. I guess this is just something that I will have to work hard at noticing. Will, I thought the feet included looked good showing the body position etc.
