Sent my D7200 to Harrisons in Sheffield for a sensor clean. They've done a great job. Put my 32GB cards back in and … instead of 589 RAW images being "available", the display now shows 759! Formatted the cards again as I used at least one of them in the D500 I now own. Checked the settings and I'm sure that they are the same. Any suggestions? It's always shown 589. Confused

It's just an estimate ... personally I ignore the number display.

perhaps they updated the firmware during the clean service

could be a new file structure on the SD or a new way of calculating space

Thanks for the quick response. Strange that it's been 589 FOREVER. I know that it's an estimate and I usually finish up with around 900+ when shooting a running event. Just wondered if something had been altered "in camera". Thanks again both of you.

Hmmm! Canon on some models as I recall has Raw and sRaw I.e. a smaller Raw file .........does Nikon have the same range of Raw settings???

What does it read with card removed. Have you done the 2 button reset? Why not sensor clean yourself? Not hard and loads of how to. On here or internet

Is it still the same 12 / 14 bit and same compression. Everytime you change any of those the figure shown does change instantly to reflect the change in RAW or JPEG file files

Dead right @Caerus Just checked that. Wonder if putting it into the D500 changed the card. Anyway, sorted. 12 or 14 bit Not much difference in the images I throw out, so 12 bit will be fine … ?
