Came down to Brixham for a weeks holiday last Friday. Going home tomorrow but seem to have an extra box to pack. Was walking past Mifsuds and have somehow convinced my wife that we really needed that mint Mamiya RB 67 Pro-SD with 90mm lens, even though we are here celebrating her birthday!

So, I will be looking for advice on where to get films developed and scanned in the short term, and then advice on scanners for when I dig out the developing tanks from our loft :)

Don't worry, those buses have lots of luggage space ;) !

More helpfully perhaps, look in the resources sticky in this thread for Film Processing in the UK, there's a link to a price calculator too. TBH the real killer with 120 can be the cost of reasonable scans. Turnround is highly variable, too; AG is one of the cheapest for dev and scan but can be very slow. UK Film Lab is very popular for quality, but you're looking 2 weeks or so there. Peak is used a lot and is fast, reasonable price for process but I find their scans expensive.

If you're not going down the Large Format route, the obvious scanner would be an Epson V500, many folk on here use them.

I think the Devon Tourist Board and Mifsuds have a lot to answer for. ;)

@ChrisR - many thanks for that, will have a read through the stickies and do lots more research when I get home and not restricted to a small tablet :)

I'd happily recommend Darkroom UK as well as the others already listed. Their prices aren't bad and their turnaround time is superb; I typically post my films off on a monday afternoon and the negatives are usually waiting for me at home when I finish work on a wednesday.

Also I am very jealous of your 90mm lens, I plan to get one at some point but I keep spending all my money on other film related stuff I don't really need!

Your problem was that you failed to walk PAST Mifsuds and walked through their Aladdin's cave instead!!! A dangerous place to visit with a credit/debit card or a pocket full of cash. Sounds like Mrs Bythesea is a keeper if she allows that sort of visit - enjoy the Mamiya kit. Hope you had a great stay down there, it's quite photogenic as well as a good source for classic kit.

She certainly is, we are off to Bruges next weekend to celebrate our 25th wedding g anniversary, though won't be taking the Mamiya. She has also recently got into photography so is just as likely to want to go into a camera shop as me (well nearly). And yes, was very photogenic, had a nice penthouse apartment overlooking the whole of Brixham harbour - was perfect :)

Can't remember the name of the pub Yv and her Geza took me too a while back - Sprat and Mackerel rings a bell but IMNRC! Good sized portions and very good prices. Right on the harbour.

:plus1: for The Darkroom UK

There is a pub called The Sprat and Mackerel so you are probably remembering correctly. Last year we had a flat directly on that road right opposite the Golden Hind. This time we were one road back just about behind the Sprat and Mackerel, though it was 62 steps up from the harbour then another 36 steps inside the building! When you live on the coast in Sussex and everything is flat takes a while to get used to it :)

This is the one - recommended if you want somewhere to stay that way.

It's only about 45 minutes' drive from me at this time of year (and about 2 hours away in high summer...) Possibly a good job I'm not closer - Yv's TLR thread has my GAS rumbling and not in a way that a good break of wind will cure!!!

The couple who have the Sprat and Mackerel used to have a pub in Lungdung that Yv + Geza used to frequent and seem to have kept a similar "vibe" in the SW. Their front of house girl isn't hard on the eyes either. ;)
