I've pre-ordered the Fuji X-T2 and I'm planning on making a 4k video; previously I've made videos on a GoPro and a DJI Phantom. Watching videos on the recording of 4k on the X-T2 it says that F-log will only be available through external recording. I've never heard of external recording so I have a few questions as I'd like to colour correct my footage rather than the cameras profiles processing it.

1 - Can someone provide examples of external recorders? I'm assuming the Blackmagic Assist is one?

2 - Is there any information I should know about external recorders when buying one?

3 - Does anyone have some recommendations? I'm looking to keep the cost as low as possible as this is currently just a hobby and I've just spent a fortune on the X-T2 as well as multiple lenses and an engagements ring! Thanks Canon haha!

Atomos do 4k external recorders, They record onto solid state drives, and give the camera operator plenty of tools to make the most of the cameras manual settings, they require your camera to have a "clean" uncompressed HDMI output, check out their website for the shogun and ninja flame models and to see if your camera is compatable. Be warned though, there very expensive but very good.

I'd ring CVP and have a chat to them about the most suitable ( and cheapest) option. I've always found them helpful
