exFAT is a standard format option on Windows (and the Mac Disk Utility), so formatting the drive should be no problem. If the iPad can write to an exFAT drive, you should be in business.
Thanks, I’m guessing it will be able to write to exfat. as the hard drives I have are NTFS.
My idea being buying and keeping new hard drive for iPad only.
