recently purchased some auto extension tubes so whilst pouring myself a drink in a glass I recently won from a well known distillery (shot of the glass in my gallery and on flikr) I thought ice would be a great test for the tubes so here we go my first attempt with them would appreciate any comments advice etc?

by the way the single malt with ice was perfect ;)

Looks cool ;), seriously though the focus and the photo itself is good the detail looks great aswell :). Just out of interest what lens are you using as this seems to be very sharp.

Thanks
Jack

nice :)... what's the white reflection in the ice? is it 2 people?

it is the nifty fifty the canon 50mm f1/8 with a 25mm ext tube at f/8 100 iso @ 1/200 with my 60D firing an off camera fill flash on commander

please dont hesitate its a eye opening world pinmonkey46

In the front ice cube on the left it looks like a young boy sitting with his back to us resting one elbow on his knee.

Really nice shot!

Am I the only one who thinks this is fundamentally wrong?? Single Malt with ice - really??

Good work. :-)

lol, Mondo, i was thinking the same thing.. cant believe it took 'til post #9 for someone to say something.
at first that consumed me, and i pretty much totally forgot about the shot.

Great shot by the way.. can take a few seconds to grasp the scale (could be massive icebergs, without the reflections)

lol yes I was tempted to reply about the ice but my excuse is even though the whisky is in the fridge its still too hot down south to drink to me so a single cube is added and to be honest the glass is emptied before the ice melts so not watered down or tainted in any way  cos i do love my single malt in fact i nearly spend as much on that as i do my photographic gear lol :coat:

I have no issue with the Whisky being watered down - a few drops of water will help it open up and release the flavours but ice is likely to kill it and will even turn any non chill filtered dram cloudy.

You'll get far more flavour from it at room temperature but at the end of the day it exists to be enjoyed however you like it.

With that in mind, I think I'll go enjoy another - it is Christmas after all. Balvenie 30 anyone??

I was at Balvenie a few weeks ago and had a dram of the 1401. A mix of casks from 1966 to 1988. Without doubt the nicest drop I've had but at £500 a bottle I think I'll stick to my usual tipples of Signature and Portwood. The 30 is now all gone :-((

Yeah especially when we get a few bottles free each month and then a decent discount after this--all this and i dont even drink....:cuckoo:

:-) I'm sure you're especially popular among your friends and neighbours. Feel free to give me a shout if you run out of storage space. :-)
