Extending Wireless Signal in Loft

I recently got a loft conversion done on my property but unfortunately the SKY broadband wireless signal fails to reach in the loft.

The current arrangement is that I have connected a TP Link homeplug between the router on ground floor and another in the loft to the PC.

I wish to also connect a wireless router in the loft so that the wireless signal can reach that far. :thinking:

Any suggestions are much appreciated. :thumbs:
 
You could switch the plug to a wireless type as mentioned above or just get any old wireless router and connect it to the TP link plug.

This sounds like the ground floor and the loft are on the same ring main, is it a two story house?

If I understand correctly, if I buy the ethernet wireless plug as per this linky then I can hard wire the PC and use the built in wireless in the home plug for connecting say a laptop wirelessly? :thinking:

It was in stock when I linked to it but I think it's the right idea.
dabs.co.uk have one or you could try Admirals suggestion, would probably be cheaper.

Yes, it has got an extra storey after the loft space converted to liveable space. Tried plugging in another ADSL wireless router to the TP link plug but still don't get the wireless singnal. What I may be doing wrong :thinking: :bang::bang::bang:

Still trying to find a solution.

Wonder if I buy this which has 2 homeplugs and a free wireless extender, will the wireless extender be able to transmit wireless signal so that decives like smartphones, tablets and laptops can catch the wireless signals?

Powerline adapters should work and connect with ethernet cable, does it have to be wireless

Either two wired adapters to create a more stable conneciton.

or one wired adapter (plugged into router) with a wire-less access point adapter in the loft to add a 2nd wifi node to the system.

You can have 4 or so powerline devices around a house usually. Also the more you have the stronger the signal becomes, as they each act as a repeater/booster.

Hi

Yes, currently I do have a setup where one powerline is plugged into the router downstairs and another one in the PC upstairs in the loft as I do not get the wireless signal all the way up to the loft from the router downstairs. This is all good.
What I also need is another wireless transmitting hub in the loft which will then transmit the wireless signals which can be used by the smartphones, laptops, tablets etc.
The ebuyer link in your post is what I was thinking of and was wondering if I will get what I am looking for?

You need a wireless access point that with pick up the low signal in the loft or near and repeat the signal thus solving your problem they can be had for around £30 from novatech
 
I'd say that it really depends on your budget. Depending on what time of range you need, think about ugh gain antennas and wither to run 2.4 or 5 ghz
Wire less placement is bit of a science. You need to consider the range/ possible interference/ materials that Walls and floors are made of etc. Draytek make some really good soho models with plenty of options.

Also bear in mind that going high (loft) is not always the best answer. Bi directional or omni directional antenna will work differently depending on where you place them.
I you have bait more cash then definitely go for cisco
 
Could even plug a wireless access point into the Ethernet wall plug you have via a switch. Bish bash bosh done.
 
Managed to get my draytek wireless router act as a repeater in loft. All sorted. :-)
