I love the way Nik's control points generate natural looking masks so easily and would love to be able to export the masks to PS to use them in other applications.

Does anybody know of a workaround to achieve this? Google brings up THIS but it must be beyond my PS skills (or he doesn't explain it very well!) as I can't follow all of the steps and can't get it to work... has anyone come across a simpler method that can be saved in a couple of actions perhaps?

He doesn't explain it well. The way I read it, he's converted a PS layer to a smart object, launched a Nik plugin (e.g. SEP) and set the control points. Then he's clicked OK in SEP and produced a 'Nik smart filter' layer in PS. The rest of it is so complicated it's probably easier to ignore Nik and make the masks in PS to start with.

I've looked at SEP and can't see any way of exporting control points as masks. Why not ask Nik if there's a hidden method? https://support.google.com/nikcollection/contact/nik_email
