Hello,

I use Lightroom to edit my photos and export, yesterday i exported an image that i know is sharp and uploaded it to my website and it doesnt appear sharp, have a look carlomullen.com and its the homepage image.

Any ideas how i can get this to appear sharper for the website?

thanks

Isn't there a bug in LR5 that it doesn't sharpen stuff properly?

im only using LR4, just thinking even thought i sharpened as part of edit process there is an sharpen on export, so might try them to see if that changes anything

ok, outside chance here, given it looks sharp on my screen - try zooming browser in and out, ctrl [or cmd on mac] and the +/- key together, and see if it sharpens up, or gets worse for you. I was having the same problem with images uploaded to zenfolio, but others were saying they looked ok, so a root around their support forums found this and they were right, it was simply the browser compression [or whatever the technical name for it is] creating an unsharp look...

I have added two more version of the same image which were sharpened when exported.

How do they look? to be fair i am looking at them on Macbook. do they look sharp enough for a client?

thanks

Your web site appears to be dynamically resizing the image depending on the size of the browser window. So we're not actually seeing the image you exported from Lightroom - we're seeing an image that has been resized by the browser, and goodness only knows what that will do to the sharpness.

If you want to have total control over the quality of the images of your web site, don't allow browsers to re-size them.
