Explosions in Hemel Hempstead

I was watching bbc news, they had a live report outside a gov building when the explosion happened.
It shook up the reporter.

Get your kid to get some photos, if he sends them in to sky and bbc he should be able to make some cash from it.

I'm going to fill my car up, as I can see fuel prices going up because of this.

Pictures sent, Have some video too. The smoke is completely blocking the sky, Getting a bit concerned we may get moved out, I'm only a couple of miles away.

I'd get out now before it gets busy, and you start being effected by the fumes and debris.

If I was to buy that much fuel on the forecourt, it would cost me £228,150,000

Here in NE London the sky is blue in all directions except one where it is quite dark. Just checked Google maps and that is the direction to Hemel

blimey!

Would it be a little mercenary to suggest that we all watch out for a nice sunset this afternoon?

I was thinking of an extension to the 'Illumination' theme myself :p

The sky here is getting pretty dark. Bit darker and the street lights will come on.

Mrs just went to Epping and back - could see the plume rising in the distance.

View from the window here....

There is a feint smell in the air and a strange quality to the light.

That'll be the Indian takeaway at the bottom of the road.

Spell corrected quoting :)

The Indian takeaway is 400 yards from the end of the road but we use the chinese more often and that is much further away. Not quite the same smell as either of them.

Just saw a sattellite pic on TV - looks like the whole of greater London is covered by the smoke.

I could see the smoke driving up the M20 in Kent this morning. (the smoke wasn't driving, I was)

Lucky no one was killed. There are all ready some stunning pictures on the news websites.

That's cheap petrol at 85.9p a litre.. :D

It was suggested on TV that the sunset might be interesting with the sky pollution. Didn't want to go too far so this is sunset over the north circular road :)

Wasn't particularly special - was pretty damn cold though.

I've been looking at Getty's piccies of the fire.

Some interesting ones taken from the London Eye.
Some nice vehicle damage also.
