Explorer VERY slow since update

Hi all, upgraded explorer from 8 to 9 last night and since then it takes minutes to open a website .

Did a system restore back to IE8 but its still the same (writing this on my phone).

Anyone any ideas, even the google toolbar doesn't show correct.

I have full AVG version so that usually picks up any nasties!

Do you have another browser to try and is that just as slow?

I found the same thing, so have started to use Google Chrome which seems to hum along nicely. Obviously other browsers are available - I just havent tried them as Google sorted it for me!

Update. I restored back even further and upon completion I opened explorer and it told me

"Internet explorer is not your default browser, do you want it to be?"

I said yes and it's back to normal. Thing is, if that's wasn't my default browser, what was? I've never downloaded or used anything else.
