I saw some photos the other week where the photographer had used the above lens in combination with an extension tube and a 1.4 TC to give much enhanced magnification over the normal 1:2 with the lens, so I thought I would try this and if successful share the results.
The photos below show the effects of various combinations using Fuji 11mm, 16mm extension tubes and the Fuji 1.4 TC.
The last shot is the 1.4TC with both tubes.
Looking at these it seems that the use of the TC with an 16mm tube is on a par with the 11 and 16mm tubes stacked, however using both tubes and the
TC gives a significant increase in magnification.Of equal significance is the working distance remains reasonable and AF and aperture reporting are retained.
Some reports show shots using the 11mm tube with the TC but I did not persue this as there appeared to be very little clearance between the end of the TC and the rear of the lens and the risk of damage was unacceptable.
The tests were carried out using branded Fuji tubes I have no idea if third party tubes will behave in the same way.
