Expensive trainers (again!!)

Hi everyone,
Sorry to ressurect this topic again but my son has finally got a so -called buyer for his expensive trainers. This guy contacted my son on eBay,sent him his number and wants to view them with a view to paying by cash (all behind ebays back) . We checked the guy out as much as we can-he's got a very genuine looking facebook profile and loads of positive feedback on eBay. Apart from the obvious what do we have to look out for? I'm trying to think of all scams he could pull when he comes round ours on Friday (ie counterfeit cash ) any advice would be appreciated!

Call at the last minute to change location - can't find your address etc., suggests somewhere public whilst lying in wait with a few big friends?

On the other side they may call and possibly want to meet in a public place as you could have a load of big friends round at your house.

Any kind of face to face runs a risk - personally I'd go for a well lit public place - a pub or supermarket cafe
 
Just sell them properly following Ebay rules, why have all the worry for a few quids worth of used trainers.

Can't see why a genuine buyer would want to do all the dodgy cash bit rather than just bid and buy as normal

1500 quid for a pair of trainers!!

That would definitely make me follow the correct rules, any reason you don't want to?
 
Apart from wanting to pay £1500 for a pair of trainers, what makes you think this fella would be a problem?
 
if you want to sell out of ebay thats your choice there's nothing stopping you pulling the sale from ebay if you do

iv'e done quite a few face to face cash sales on here and ebay for a good few quid and have no reservations doing so
if your worried about a stranger coming to your house get as much info from them as you can ( home phone is a good start ) and if your worried about forged notes just take your time when you count them if some seem a little different take a closer look don't for one second think you might offend the buyer by doing so they should be happy you are satisfied the moneys all there and legit as they are with the goods

they are going to inspect the goods so why shouldn't you inspect the money, works both ways in my book

as already mentioned have a mate come round for a coffee when their due if you are worried something untoward might happen although i think it very unlikely
 
So the guy has just been, turned up in a brand new Nissan GTR, paid cash and left!

188,000 results from Googling Nissan gtr hire and most hire cars are brand new (especially "prestige" and performance models.) Hope the notes are all genuine.
 
Unlikely, I'll agree but stranger things have happened.
 
He was a genuine guy,25-30 yrs old-an accountant- car was a 62 plate (so not actually brand new) we checked the notes with one of them pen things.
And yes they sold for £1500,mad ain't it! But I suppose folk collect all kinds of weird things and are willing to pay big bucks for rare items
