Expensive Canon repairs

Just got a quote for repair of my 500d. Something called the dc dc lead ??? Anyhow cost is £180 from the place at Colchester. Parts are £40 and rest is labour and vat.

I was a little shocked at the cost of labour.

Im going to pay for it done as I need it for an upcoming holiday.

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent repairs centre who charge fairer prices ?

I normally use fixation - but to be fair skilled labour is expensive anywhere- its the same principal as when your local garage charges you 50 quid an hour

It could do no harm to ask Canon themselves at Elstree. I've found their prices to be competitive in the past.

My local garage is £72ph and I dread to think what the Peugeot dealer is!

You should cast your eye over the Central London BMW dealer service charge are over £150 per hour!

I have used this guy before when my Nikon D200 card slot failed. First class service and great communication. I would highly recommend. My friend whose Canon macro lens has started playing up and she has sent it off to him.
