Hi all,
Anyone bought a really good expanding hose pipe?
I have bought two off amazon and both have burst!
To be fair they have refunded me twice - I really like the convenience of this type of hose and would like to buy a decent one
Any recommendations?
Thanks

Name names if they were that bad refund or not! I take it they warn't the expensive blue ones as advertised on the telly?

I bought the X-hose (it is blue, but not expensive) from Asda (£30). It is about 15 ft. long and expands to 50 ft. (Other lengths are available). Used it about 6 times so far. Excellent to date. If I could get a hose like it (incredibly light and truly kink free) with a guaranteed long life I would readily pay much more. I get the impression that the life of the hose will be very much determined by careful use. I don't see it tolerating being dragged over rough ground, round sharp corners etc. all that often.

Someone father in law knows well has one of the X-Hose (blue one) and is very pleased with it, not sure of size, but it does him well, not aware of him having any issues with it, but I know it's not used heavily / dragged round corners etc.

I got something like that one and that burst. Currently trying a squiggly 15m el cheapo from home bargains. I got some hose joiners with a tap in so I can join shorter hoses if I need a longer one.

i looked at them and found you cant use them with pressure washers:(

Didn't know that !!!

Reading quite a few have had the burst though, but see X-hose now has a 'pro' black version - perhaps the inner tube is thicker on this ?

That is interesting. I'll be having a lookout for it.

The blue X hose feels like a cycle tyre inner tube inside a light nylon sheath. I think that a thorn or similar could easily puncture it.

Having had hoses that fight like an Anaconda when coiling them the X hose is a pleasure to use.

Wasn't aware off this. Do you know why?

I was told that most pressure washers suck slightly on the water supply. Normal hoses can handle the slight negative pressure that this causes but the expandable ones shrink back to their storage size. Not sure if that's true but it's what I was told.

I've got green ones and orange ones (and a few lengths of yellow IIRC!)

I understand that some people have one that's so long they have to keep it on a reel!

Cheap squiggly one isn't very good. Pressure seems quite low and it's awkward to move about.

I thought I might be missing out so I've ordered a thick black one, 100ft! It's the Grohoze,,I'm hoping it will be easier to use than the one I have now.

Ordered the £100 grohoze. Good timing, as dog had destroyed, my other hose. My fault for leaving it out

I got a blue one from china in january with all the fittings & spray gun.£9.97,working a treat.:D

Arrived this afternoon, tried and tested, all good

Mine arrived this afternoon, OH being a lover of all new gadgets watered all the plants in the garden...result :naughty:

So got the Grohoze today- first impressions are good - washed two cars and it's still working! Seems better made than the green ones although I did have to put some ptfe tape round the nozzle connection as it was leaking[emoji44]
