Just a quick question.

How do I get to see the Exif data from shots posted here. Lots of people refer to them, but I must not be looking in the right place!

Can someone point me please?

If your using firefox browser, download the add-on FxIF,. the exif date then show up when you right click and look at properties.

There are similar was for IE but, sorry I don't know what they are called, a quick forum search should find the info you need.

But if the "Save for web" command was used does that not remove the EXIF data completely?

I recently started using firefox (more by accident than otherwise) and I am very pleased with it. Also didn't need to install any other add-ons (except bookmarks) and can see all the exif data mostly!

OK - I must be missing something here. I have uploaded the latest version of Firefox and the add on Exif Data reader software.

I'm using a mac, so no right click option. Normally I use ctrl and mouse click to reveal the same as right click on a PC. When I do this I get an option to view exif data (good potential) but whenever I click the show data button it always gives me a message that the data was blocked.

Could it be something on my machine I need to turn off?

I have tried loads of sites and no data available anywhere for me:'(

Can someone help?

Thanks for the link Ross. I will give it a go as I also have Safari too.

I have also downloaded exif, it works for some and not others. Guess it depends how the pic is saved

Hmm - worked on the very first image I looked at over at Flickr. V. cool, and lots of info. No other images yet have any data... Quite frustrating this business. Sumints zup.

A lot of photos are uploaded without exif, not much you can do about that I'm afraid

Oh, OK. I automatically thought that every photo would have it embedded or something. I was really looking forward to seeking all those great shots and seeing what lens and aperture have been used.

How do you remove the data when uploading then?

"Save for web" option in photoshop doesn't retain exif. Exif takes up space in the file so when you are looking for the best quality for a given file size you want all that space taken up with image

Makes sense. Thanks for the info.
