I've got an exhibition in Feb and time is getting on. I'm trying to name it. The theme is basically my HDR work in Liverpool, with maybe one or two non-hdr shots that show off Liverpool as the great city I see it as. "Images of Liverpool" is a rubbish name. Its got to be something good, something we can brand. By we I mean the design agency that is doing the branding. So I'm after inspiration. I'm not after any cliches. This is a big deal, press will be notified and flyers will be all around town. I'm not convinced about naming it "Vanilla Days" because that already exists. Dunno really whether the exhibition is an extension of it or a totally seperate thing. Having it seperate means new branding, new site.... tricky.

"Peter Carr = HDR" simple :)

on a more serious note, I think I would be tempted to stick with your Vanilla Days.

I would agree too. Like you say yourslf anything else means new branding and site. Do you have the time to get all that functional?

If you don't like 'Pete Carr - High Definition' how else would you describe your work, if you could pigeonhoile it?

Me, no. The design agency providing me with a free site, and a tonne of design work, yes :D

I wouldn't describe it as "High Definition" at all. I use HDR, which is High Dynamic Range. Its just a tool though. If I brand it as some exhibition of a technical process, thats just a bit dull. Why would a passer by come in? They'd come in to see the pictures. Only a photo geek would be into the process.

Which leads to my question, how would 'you' describe the work you are exhibiting?

What about "Your Liverpool" or even "My Liverpool"?
though a tad cliched!

Pete Carr - Photographarr

I like "Uraban Dynamics, by Pete Carr" !!!

Maybe to silly but how about

Liverpool Living

Simply, how I see Liverpool. Technology allows me to manipulate light in a way that lets me show people what I saw. Then of course I can discuss HDR and tone mapping.

Whats an "Uraban" ? :p Its catchy but sounds a bit... hmmmm. Like a dissertation :)

Through a Dynamic Eye ~ Pete Carr

Dynamic ~ Pete Carr

City Dynamics ~ Pete Carr

I definitely think your name should be a standing feature in anything you decide on Pete, you want people to remember that first and foremost. Your work will speak for itself ;)

Nah, not sure on them. First one is a total cliche about photography. The others just sound like a geeky way of trying to name it because I work with dynamic range. I can imagine laughing over it with people in the gallery... oh dear :) Maybe its not possible to give meaning to something so generic as photos of Liverpool.

How about:
Liverpool - Captured by Pete Carr

Not bad, but I'm not sure how you'd brand it.

High Dynamic Liverpool.

Dynamic Liverpool

Nah, for reasons just stated. Far too photo geek. Its photos of Liverpool, not showing off how to do HDR.

"My Take - Liverpool according to Pete Carr."

"This is Liverpool"

still thinking...this is hard! :p

Painting With Light
Liverpool My Way
The Continuing Story of Liverpool (a play on a Beatles track)

just a few...

Ok how about:

Liverpool Latitude 53 25N Global City by Pete Carr

That's a cool idea, although maybe slimming it down to something like '53 25N' - coming from a design background, I'd really like that. I'd be thinking nice, clean bold lines and functional sans-serif text.

A little too long.

Annoyingly too close to another project I'm working on. They're good suggestions guys just not fitting. Its hard to find something suitable. The only thing that I feel has any meaning to me doesn't sit right. "Over the water." Its a phrase my Nan used to say when people asked where I lived. I've never lived in Liverpool, always "Over the water" and thats where I go and photograph. But I was thinking its a bit odd having an exhibition in Liverpool called "over the water" because people might think its about Wirral. I often over think things, and its probably the perfect name as it means something to me.

b****r! How about the totally obvious 'P/C'?

'Do you see what I see?'
'Liverpool Light'

Sorry, both are probably really cliched and not what you're wanting. Hope you'll be posting details of where and when the expo will be :)

do you want a more personal name like
Pete Carr's Liverpool

or a bit more general like,
Liverpool - My City, My Vision!

Where's it on at Pete, have you got details you can post on here, i'd deffo be interested in coming to see it

City Exposure

Northern Exposure (do scousers class themselves as northern?)

This Liverpudlions Liverpool

A Liverpudlions Liverpool

View or View: Liverpool (it's how you view it, they are views of the city and people will come to view the exhibition)

LiViewPool

(I know its rubbish, but when saying it in my head it sounded like a scouser :D)

Keep it simple otherwise it becomes pretentious. You have (i presume) the professionals in the design agency - what is their advice?

It may help to provide the rest of the info pete - i wouldn't asociate an exhibition with a brand so what is the exhibition a springboard for?

If you are looking to brand a project then avoid using your name for two reasons: i) you are not the project ii) you are a step removed.

If you are looking for a name for an exhibition only then consider your market - who do you sell to and what are their tastes.

Finally, what is on your short list at the moment?
