ex-display lens reserved.wise move?

after taking all your replies into consideration i decided to opt out of the jessops deal(didnt even bother going into view it) turns out calumet had a brand new one in stock n they were £40 cheaper! i really need to do more homework next time i buy another lens.

very happy with my lens but surprised that calumet wouldnt do me a discount on their filters especially after spending over £1200 n paid in cash!

I understand that the margin on cameras and bodies is as low as 7%. Given the overheads that High Street stores have to meet I think you'll be lucky to get a discount. Whether they should be selling a display/used lens when you ordered a new one is a moot point.

If it helps i bought a video tripod from Jessops say 2 months ago, turned out that the display was the only one left. They gave me 10% when i asked if they could take anything of for being a display.

Not bad as i got a tenner off but would want more from a lens.

I think you will find their overheads are much smaller on lenses and cameras than a tripod.

Was it one of their own brand ones by any chance?

went into jessops in ipswich (no other choice here) as i needed another sb-900 gun only one left was a display model checked it out and there wasnt anything wrong with it asked for a discount and got 10% ..so it is worth asking
