Ever tried complaining to Tesco's?

So quick update. I've spent weeks chasing Tescos insurance company who initially ignored every attempt for three weeks, promises of calls bback etc, so I raised a complaint with them and again tried going through Tesco Customer services who washed their hands.

I then got an apologetic manager who initially said the lorry was hired out to Eddie Stobbart, so I contacted them. They were very good, phoned me back with 30 minutes and said no it wasn't them and they'd raised the matter with Tecsos and the insurance company and they were very unhappy that they'd been implicated.

That seemed to get the ball rolling and finally Tesco's have admitted responsibility and will be paying for the tyre before christmas. When pushed, I was told the driver had been spoken to and informed what to do in the event of another incident.

So every little delay helps. No apology, no feedback, I've chased all the way to finally get recompense for my tyre. I lost the use of my car for 4 days, have had to chase regularly for nearly two months but at least I've got the tyre paid for.

Glad you go this sorted

I thought TESCO owned Eddie Stobart now?

Hum, wasn't aware of that. They were very protective of their reputation.

Tesco is one of Stobart's biggest customers, pretty sure that they do not own them though!

Apparently an investment company (Invesco) is the largest shareholder.

Nope.
ES, big as they are, aren't even Tesco's primary haulier.

Social media is the way to go now with large companies - they have people who monitor the social net as something small can get very messy very fast.........

:agree: & it is becoming commonplace. Many manufacturers only supply those weedy compressors with the tyre repair kit/cans, which sound OK, but using the repair foam is only a temporary `fix` to enable you to get home or to a tyre supplier...........where you'll then have to purchase a new tyre.
You're going to be lucky to even get a space-saver before too long, with manufacturers cutting costs (under the excuse of lowering emissions & meeting EU directives)

So why didn't he use the foam thing?

Only got the compressor and foam, I dpn't think any new cars come with a spare wheel now, or even somewhere to put one. I don't like putting the foam in as it's a mess for the tyre fitters to sort out afterwards.

As I wrote in the OP: As this was junc 16 of the M4, I limped the car into the nearest hotel and spent sometime with the pump getting air into the tyre hoping I'd just forced it off the rim, but unfortuneatly not. I've limped the car home slowly, stopping frequently to pump up the tyre.

I pump up the tyre, it would slowly deflate over 3-4 mins, so I limped the car home frequently stopping to pump it up where it was appropriate to stop. However as at point it ram deflated on the sidewalls I didn't want to use the tyre again.
