Edit My Images
Yes
Got home after the Palace vs Leeds games.

Had a couple of glasses of vino & decided to check out the rest of the images that were on my cards.

Realised I had my best 2 shots. Murray scoring and you can see the ball going in to the net with the keeper stranded.

I had sent the 2 before shots of him shooting but goodness only knows how I missed the best ones !!!

Have sent them to the agency but probably too late for consideration now :bang: :bonk:

Ever happened to anyone else?

Hate it when wiring live, continually switching cards, sometimes even miss downloading a whole card.

Still a chance for the monday pullouts etc.

I normally have 4 cards. Obviously one in each camera, then 2 spares in my pocket, so when one comes out to download the spare from the pocket goes in, and vice versa, keep repeating throughout the game..

I locked the 2 shots I had of him shooting then when I looked at the cele shots I just didn't scroll back far enough.

Live and learn I guess, but very annoying.

I tend to have Photo Mechanic sort by "Tag and Colorclass" so that you get the locked ones listed first when you ingest...

Never fails.

Should have added one reason why I always download everything and dont "tag" This way I can see all shots taken at a glance for any important peice of action/goals/celes etc.

Well I have sod all even worth tagging @ Millwall vs Blackburn. Hopefully goals second half..

Is it quicker to check photos on the laptop than on the back of the screen?

Maybe I wouldn't have missed the photos if I had done it that way.

I prefer it that way. At the end of the game and I think I have sent the main shots I like to quickly scan through just to see if I have missed anything important. Sometimes I spot a better goal/cele or action but I just find it easier and better on the larger laptop screen rarther than flicking through on the back of the camera.

Out of interest roughly how many shots would you take in a game & would you delete any on the back of the camera before downloading.

Did you get a shot of Zaha and his 'gesture' to Leeds fans?lol

On average around 400. Mostly these would be a sequence of maybe 3-4 bursts. In the days I worked for agencies I shot a lot of stock so could have taken more. These days I try to be a bit more selective and dont shoot stock to send anymore.

I dont realy delete any from the camera as you never know quite what you have plus its time taken from the game. If I think I have a good shot, either action or goal/cele then the latter would get downloaded straight away and captions, edited ready for sending. These I colour code in PM so I know which I've already done.

Thanks Graham

Always good to hear different way of doing things and why.

Just realised I had Dale Stevens' brilliant volley from last night. I saw a couple of shots where he was slightly blocked, so I wissed the wheel round to see the cele shots.

I can't imagine it would have been used anyway as the Getty guy at the far end had a better shot of it..

What I tend to do when shooting live is only import locked images, if there is a goal I will lock 3/4 images plus cele shots so they all end up imported and just look through them picking out the best, editing and wiring

tend not to look at images after games now with doing that

I also do that Steven but I didn't realise I had the shot to lock..

When missing one or two 'best' shots, I usually can live with that - what I hate is when I have forgotten a whole card..
You shoot and think you save all the cards between games (Finals Day action) - then you get home and start the editing, only to find out that you are obviously missing some action.
All you can hope at that time is that you haven't deleted all the cards and those images might still be there..
When you shoot/wire live - there is always something you'll miss. So far I haven't figured a way to shoot/edit/wire all at the same time... when your eyes on the laptop.. you WILL miss some bit of the action on the pitch.

I think I might try downloading all images on the 1Dx/70-200 on to the laptop via the Ethernet connection. I thought I could do that and just choose which ones I wanted but I can't, so i didn't use it.

Nothing on this weekend because of a wedding but am going to try it in a few weeks.

How many cards do you guys use during games?

I never use more than 3 with two cameras. one in each camera, one in card reader to swap out between other camera's when needed. once the game has finished, even though I know the cards have been ingested I always go back through them "just incase"

The only concern then is mussing "locking" them in camera

I use 2 per camera.

So on the 1Dx I have 2 x CF cards in the camera at the start & record to card 1. I then lock and take that out, so it switches to card 2. Then lock on that card and pop it out and put card 1 back in. Hence I am ingesting from the card I have just taken out.

On the 1DIV I use 2 SD cards. As I take one card out I pop the next one in.

For me it's a case of missing the shot when I swivel the wheel, looking through to choose which ones to lock.

Ah, I see

The way I do it I use the second card as a backup and only ever take that out if I need to (only ever done it once), If I take a card out I always put another back (I only ever change card if there is a break in play for example)

I haven't got enough cards to do that.
