Packed my new camera bag, with camera, lenses, sandwiches, bottle of water, bar of chocolate, glasses and newspaper and set off with my dog for the local country park about 9 miles from my home, beautiful setting, with dense forestry, railway viaduct, river with waterfall, and fields of Bluebells, the weather was superb too perfect lighting for some pretty pics. Got to the river first and the dog was frollicking around in the water, quickly got the camera out ready for some shots, and.....













Doh :bang: left my only camera battery in the charger at home:bonk:
 
I've gone out with a dead battery, but never left it at home!! :D
 
Nope never :) I've left lenses at home etc after cleaning them, forgotten tripod, but never done anything that prevented me shooting. You donut :p
 
I've gone out with everything (or so i thought) only to find my 2GB memory card wasn't in the camera but in the card reader at home ! Carry spares lol :D
 
Never left the battery at home but done the next biggest daft thing. I thought I was being organized, packed the camera bag ready for a days 'togging the next morning. I put the battery on charge overnight then discovered next morning I'd forgotten to switch it on!! :bang:

Luckily my mate had a spare but he's never let me live it down. :lol:
 
I've left my battery numerous times, Memory Card Lots of times, a lens once, Tripod quick release quite a few times and camera once.

Ditto on going out without a CF card.

I have gone to an event with my battery indicator flashing. The spare was at home still on the charger. It did last the evening but that was only after switching the camera off between sessions and minimal reviewing.
 
Even with no card in it the 30D registerers the shots on the review screen for a few seconds and carries on. I'd 'taken' 10 shots before I even realised ! Doh :D

There's a setting in the menu that you can change to prevent a picture being "taken" with no CF card in the slot.
 
Been out without a CF card once, and that was a short walk with the dog.
It was however with the 10D which came by default allowing shooting with no CF card.

From that day forward I change that setting, and always kept a spare battery and a spare card in the camera bag.
 
I always wondered why you would even want to take pics without a card. Or I guess for tethered shoots you wouldn't necessarily need one.
 
you forgot your memory? That sounds like something you need therapy for ;)

Nope! First thing I do is buy spare batteries and always ensure they're kept topped up.
 
Never forgotten a Battery but I've lost count of the amount of times I've taken my first photo of the day, miles away from home, and "NO CARD" has come up on the display:bonk:

I've then had to find the nearest shop to buy one, and I now own 8 memory cards as a result!!:cuckoo:
 
I was going to Grenada and had been downloading the pics from a trip to WWT London the week before onto my computer. On arriving at our hotel and seeing a Grey Kingbird which I wanted to photograph, i discovered that I had left my memory card in the card-reader at home and had to go through 4 days before tracking one down there. D'oh!!:bang::bonk::bang::bonk:

I bought a fuji S1 pro as a keep in the car camera, wasn't familiar with it, stoped at 6am in a lovely village, took about 20 photos, sunrise, mist in the fields, old cottages., got home no pictures, looked in the manual, PREVIEW MODE in this mode you have to select save in order for the picture to be written to the memory card.

Oh and since I got a chip and pin reader for online banking on more than one occasion i've been stood at a till in a shop to look in my wallet and see no debit card because it's in the machine at home
 
Took 24 shots on a film camera once with no film in it :D
(The frame counter had broken so I had to remember if there was a film in and what frame I was on)
With digital I always take a shot just as I am leaving to make sure I have got the battery and card installed.
 
Forgot my memory card once so now I keep a 1 gig card in the car 'just in case'.

Only had to use it once so far but I was really glad I had it in there.

Don't backup batteries the same way but the battery grip on the 40D comes with an AA battery carrier that slots into it and I have considered keeping that and some spare AAs in the car.

Acutalyy after writing this I'm thinking about it even more.
 
i've put my bag in one car and then gone out in the other car :bang:
 
I go hillwalking and when I do I take minimum camera gear. SLR, one card, spare battery and a walking pole monopd. Once having climbed to the top of the Calf in Yorkshire, I took the camera out only to discover I forgotten to put a CF card in it. The camera was just a heavy lump of useless metal I was carrying for 8 miles. Now I keep a spare CF in my walking bag permanently.
 
never battery but a few times CF card, Now I have one in the car one in my wallet and dont take the one out the camera.

Grabbed the camera one night up in the lakes and I'm happily shooting THE lovliest sunset I've seen in years. Yep, NO CF CARD.

Thankfully I did notice it and had a spare in the camper so was back up shooting after a very brisk run up the field.

Have now set both cameras to tell me if there is no card on startup and I always, always check before leaving home now.
 
I keep a spare card in the sandisc pouch attached to the neck strap of my camera, although I never take the card out of the camera in the first place. I've managed to leave home with all my gear but once when I was filming I forgot to put a battery in the mic for a shot! It wasn't a critical shot but would have been nice to have some sound with it.
 
I've not done that yet, but expect I will one day. That's why I try to stick to my prep routine before I leave the house.

Last thing I always do, is turn on the camera and check the card, then pack it in bag.
