How many of you take printers with you to events and shows. Which printer would you recommend as a starting point?

I've been asked to attenda few shows taking photos of competitors and should anyone want a print there and then I'd like to be prepared.

A Dye-Sub printer is what you are looking for. Fast and cheap to run (althougfh very expensive to buy). You can hire them.

Inkjets are inconsistent and not great at being moved around and are quite slow.

Look at the likes of DHP and Mitsubishi event printers.
 
We use a Sub Dye printer ( DNP DS40 ) which we have used for the past 3 years at our School Proms and wedding photo booths.
Only ever had 1 paper jam and it only took a couple of minutes to fix.
They are fast and can stand being used constantly over a number of hours. The prints are instantly dry and can be handled straight away.
As said they are expensive, and very heavy but if used well they will soon pay for themselves.
Have a look at Photomart they stock a range of sub dye printers.
The latest ICC profile for the DNP has made a huge difference to the quality of the prints IMO.

Think I said DHP instread of DNP!
Just foir confirmation it's a dye-Sub (not sub dye) printer :)

Dye Sublimination is the print process that uses heat to transfer the dye onto the media you are using.
 
Mitsubushi D70 for me, great bit of kit and worth every penny. also media is available from multiple suppliers so no chance of running out. got mine from System insight awesome pre and after sales service..
 
I have two older Mitsi 9550's. Built like tanks and never missed a beat. Custom profile for each one and colour and contrast is really good. As suggs mentions, at least a dozen places to buy media.

Just looking at these printers for an upcomming event I have been asked to shoot.......Did you make a choice Karl? If so what did you get and how is it going? Hope you dont mind me asking

Sorry to butt in but does anyone use a Mitsubishi CPK60DWS? It uses the same media for 6x4 and 8x6, are there any other dysubs that do that ideally 6x4 and 9x6 rather than 8x6 to keep the same aspect ratio?
