Apologies if this has already been covered on the forum but I cannot find it.

I am interested in what the workflow is from the camera image to print at an event.

How do you transfer the image to the PC for example , card, wireless, tethered?
Whats software do you use LR, Aperture?
Best dye sub printer (quality & running cost)
How do you process payments?

I would have thought that selling prints on day of the event are more profitable than hosting and selling on a web site days after?

The way we work.
Images are transfered wireless using eyefi cards and an access point.
Images are auto imported to lightroom
Printing is done with a mitsubishi 9550 (I think)
Payments cash only taken before the print button is clicked. We have possibly lost 3 sales in the last 12 months due to not having card facilities so we have no intention of adding card facilities.
I think we have sold 0 prints online but we don't really push the online stuff cash in the hand is better than cash promised online.

How do you transfer the image to the PC? - Depending on the event but wireless to the computer for black tie events and transfer by card for other events.

Whats software do you use LR, Aperture? Express Digital Darkroom (Brilliant software and a must for event photographers just for the speed of the program.

Best dye sub printer (quality & running cost)? For the size and speed, DNP40. Does all the printing inside the printer instead of the print coming out and then back into the printer again to do the next layer. VERY HEAVY and quite costly.

How do you process payments? Cash and Card Payments.

Link for the printer(s). We use both. - http://www.photomart.co.uk/content/contentextra/dnp/dnphome.html

And this photo must be photoshoped, them printers are blooming heavy! A young lass holding it with one hand and smiling without breaking a sweat! http://www.photomart.co.uk/content/contentextra/dnp/images/girl.jpg

Andy has taken the words right out of my mouth (but then he should!)

He did forget to say the DNP is heavy as hes lifting two printers in one case as I always take a DS80 as backup to the DS40 but in some cases both are used.

Regarding card machines, some days its not used and somedays it can add £100's to your sales.

Black tie events very rarely offer any after sales but I do cover many events that generate £100's and even £1000's of web sales.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, very helpful.
